Climateline Vs Slimline tubing?

Hi there
1) Should I upgrade to the Climateline tubing? ( I live in NY state ).
2) If so why?
3) If not why?

Advantage of the Climateline tubing is the addition of more controlled heat which helps avoid rain out.
Rain out may not be an issue now or ever in the future...depends on your added moisture needs.
Also depends on ambient room temp and humidity.
Winter time is typically the worst time for those of us who do like lots of added moisture and colder bedroom temps.
There is no pressing need to use the Climateline hose unless rain out is an issue.
If you have to ask.....you haven't had much or any rain out yet.
Nothing like snorting a few drops of water up your nose (feels like a cupful but I know it is just a few drops) to make a person want to do something about it.

Now some people really like the added warmth to the air that a heated hose offers because regular hose and cold bedroom equals ice cube nose...air so cold it is uncomfortable. In that case the heated hose is also a blessing even if there are no rain out issues.

I only had a problem with rainout once and a couple of socks over the tube solved that, and convinced me to by a hose cover. Then I figured out that I didn't need the humidifier... I still use the hose cover just because it is more comfortable to sleep with.
I made a reptile hose heater my first winter, because it was cheap, and I could. The warmer air was nice in the winter. This winter I caught a climateline on sale and bought it. Since it's warmed up I have switched back to the slimline.
We really can't decide for you.

If you have real low humidity the climate line if I remember correctly is suppose to maintain 80% humidity if it is in auto.

I prefer the climateline bc its a bit longer don,t tangle when sleep on my side and not flimsy as the slimline

Main advantage to the ClimateLine hose is rain out prevention and temperature of the air hitting your nose.
If you don't have any issues with either one then there is no real need to use the ClimateLine hose.
So you can use slimline year round if you wish. It is up to you what you wish to do. There are no hard fast rules one way or the other.
If you have not experienced a winter yet using the machine....then you can wait till cooler weather and see if rain out or temps are an issue.

I live in western NYS. The only time I had rainout with the slimline hose was when it was warm enough to sleep with the windows open, but got down to the low 60's at night and cooled off the bedroom. I turned down the humidity at that point ( from 2.5 to 1) and it hasn't been a problem.

Reviving an old thread... I was just asking this very question in a new thread I created (couldn't find it by searching, then somehow found it by searching with other search terms).

I've had rain out once, but I do think the heated hose may benefit me as my wife keeps our bedroom at 65 deg. May keep away the ice cube feeling that Pugsy mentioned.

I was recently using my Air Mini, and the hose is much smaller than my ClimateLineAir hose for my AS10. The CLA sometimes wakes me up when I turn over. The smaller hose with the Air Mini didn't. I'm guessing this is similar to the SlimLine hose. However, from what Pugsy said, it may be a moot point. I should try sleeping with my Air Mini in our bedroom to see if I can tolerate the cold air in my nostrils. If the SlimLine tubing is thicker than the one with the Air Mini, then it's a moot point.

I'm from western NYS, southern part of it. I Don't use humidity and heated hose. slimline hose is all I need. never had a moisture problem. The climate here is very moist and damp all year. what I like about slimline hose. its cheap to replace. easy to clean. they last long if you keep it clean. I'm still on the same hose, 6 months. the heated hose is sitting in the box. I do a lot of camping here. a lot up north in the Adirondacks. never had a moisture problem with my slimline. I keep 2 spares around if one should start leaking I have a new one ready to take over. no duct tape to fix a leak.

I use the heated hose all the time because I hate cold air blowing up my nose.

I went to check my AS10 last night with the ClimateLineAir tube connected. I thought it automatically set the humidity level to auto when it was connected? It was still manually set and I couldn't find a way to change it to auto. Granted, I didn't enter the clinician settings to see if that could be changed there.

EDIT: Never mind, these settings are overridden when climate is set to "auto" (you can still set the humidity level, but AS10 disregards this setting when a ClimateLineAir tube is connected).
