Trips to high altitude

Post by LocoLouie » Mon Apr 03, 2006 5:19 pm

In reading the manual for my Respironics Bi-Pap plus, they state that the automatic altitude compensation is good for sea level to 5600 feet. Does this mean that vacationing at 7500 feet would require a change to the pressure settings?

Hi Louie,

How long do you plan to be at that altitude? Also, what is your machine set at now?

If you're only going to be there a few days, you might not have to change it. On the other hand, if you're planning on staying longer than a week or two, you might see how you feel after a few days and then decide whether you want to bump it up a cm or two.
Also, keep in mind that going up that high, you're probably going to get pretty sleepy at an atmosphere with thinner oxygen content.

Best wishes,

Den

Thanks for the responses.
My pressure is presently set at 17 in and 10 out. I don't have alot of leeway though because my machine max's out at 20. I only plan to spend 3 to 4 days.

Well, I wouldn't bother with messing with the settings then.
