Sweaty palms and Sweaty feet during day???
Sweaty palms and Sweaty feet during day???
After my fifth day on cpap my feet and palms are getting sweaty during the day my feet are also real tender and moist when I am wearing shoes has anyone else experienced this???? Is this just my body chemistry changing or is it something more serious??? I have a follow up with my doctor in about 10 days so I will see what he has to say but needless to say its fairly uncomfortable

I don't recall those symptoms being brought up on the forum before......in relation to OSA. Do you have any other health conditions? If you find out anything from your doctor, I'd appreciate hearing about it for future reference.Kantou wrote:After my fifth day on cpap my feet and palms are getting sweaty during the day my feet are also real tender and moist when I am wearing shoes has anyone else experienced this???? On the other hand, it's pretty normal for our bodies to go through some changes in this new way of sleeping and getting much-needed oxygen back in our systems.

If your body has been making stress/panic hormones overnight for years to startle you awake to get you to breathe, it may not know what to do with those hormones now that they do not need to be used in the same way as much. (My way of putting that is probably a terrible oversimplification.) Add to that the fact that all changes cause some stress--even the good changes that come with successful therapy--and I think such changes can often be considered a part of the healing process and may well resolve themselves in time. That is only my uneducated opinion, of course."Sweaty Hands and Feet . . . The palms of your hands and the soles of your feet have more sweat glands than any other part of your body. Some people have hands and feet that sweat a lot. . . . Sweaty hands and feet usually are not caused by a disease. . . . This problem is common . . . The sweating becomes worse with emotion and stress."-- http://www.aafp.org/afp/20040301/1121ph.html

Two things come to mind. Excess caffeine or blood sugar levels not correct?

Same problem here. It's embarrassing. I have to carry a small towel around to keep my hands dry. Good luck and I'll keep researching, too.Kantou wrote:After my fifth day on cpap my feet and palms are getting sweaty during the day my feet are also real tender and moist when I am wearing shoes has anyone else experienced this???? Could be thyroid related, or even neurological, so talk to your doctor... what I wouldn't do, beyond noting the coincidence of starting Cpap, is tell him you think it's cpap related, because you don't want him to ignore other causes...

I have noticed an increase in sweaty palms and feet also. When I notice my palms are sweaty it only makes the problem worse. It's pretty embarrassing actually.

This may be a dermatological problem called hyperhydrosis. My son has a pretty severe case......his hands would leave wet marks on his papers at school. The dermatologist gave him a prescription for a topical treatment that he does a couple times a week...no more sweaty hands. It has worked like a miracle...
Not sure if it is or isn't related to sleep apnea.....worth checking into though because it is such an easy fix....

I agree that you might had the hyperhidrosis in hands and feet from birth and the stress now makes it more aggravated. I have hyperhidrosis in my arms pits.

The possibility is present that there is no connection with cpap,
and it would be a good idea to mention this in a message to your doctor's staff before your appointment.
Let them decide if your appointment may need to be sooner.
