Questions on CPAP Pressure

Post by jimjam » Fri May 18, 2012 3:40 pm

What does the level of Air pressure reveal about the person or thier condition? My required air pressure is about 7 cm/h2o. I have seen some air pressure settings as high as 16 cm.
Is mine low because my AHI incidents are low compared to somehow with higher frequencies? Could it be related to other factors such as age, size or sex of the individual? This would be a question somone in contact with many patients can shed some light on.

its just that it takes higher pressure to open the airway and overcome apneas of the person at 16 than it does at 7. you may have more apneas than the guy at 16 but it takes more to open his. that's all.

Yes, it's really more about anatomy than anything else... no real bearing on how severe your apnea is.
