OMG I am a hoser!
OMG I am a hoser!
It took a while and a couple more calls to my ENT but I succeeded in getting what I wanted (almost) from Apria.
As my tag line shows, I am the proud owner of a S9 Autoset and a Swift FX mask (aloha not carried). Tonight is day one of the rest of my life. Hopefully soon I will begin to feel human again.
Thank you all for all of your wisdom. I know I will be back with more questions.

Congrats! Attitude makes a big difference in how well you adapt to the treatment. You are definitely going in the right direction. Don't get discouraged if you don't see immediate results. Some people see results quickly and some take a while.
Good luck and keep us posted!

Attitude is everything.
Re: OMG I am a hoser!
WTG. Now comes the fun part.
I imagine you will like the Swift FX just fine. While I am currently using the Aloha....after using the Swift FX since it was released....the Swift FX is still my preference. I didn't abandon the Swift FX ship like some of the others. Some pros and cons with pretty much every mask out there and the trick is to find one with more pros than cons that suits your own personal needs the best.
I have all the SleepyHead stuff in my signature line. One hint...if you are using Vista or Windows 7 then I would suggest installing it using the "run as administrator" command line instead of the usual double click to start the install process. Doing this avoid a minor annoyance with updates failing later. So if you want to try SleepyHead just keep that in mind.

Re: OMG I am a hoser!
Congratulations Tino2You! Hopefully you will find that being a hose head will be one of the best overall changes to your health you will ever do. I know it has been for me and I have only been at it for six months. I wish for you sleep filled nights and restful days. Please keep us posted on your progress; whether good or bad we are here for you, just as you are here for us...

The original "hosers" used the "hose" to consume their beer.........I see by your avatar that you must be one of them
Welcome and congrats....you did it...beer or not

Re: OMG I am a hoser!
Good for you! You'll get another chance for a mask in a few months and you can try the Aloha then. It's still brand new and just getting into the DME's. Mine had to be special ordered, too. Everyone deserves to try this little mask. Wait until you see how great your going to feel. You won't need naps and if you start getting active once you fee some energy, you wont know yourself a year from now. When I look at picture of myself before treatment, I look pale and puffy. No life in my eyes. I'm a different man today. Can't say I haven't had my struggles with the hose, I have, but I'm so thankful that there are no words.

Re: OMG I am a hoser!
Congrats to you! I've had my unit for 6 months, but only started using it again lately thanks to the folks here and their great information. I've only had about 8 nights full sleep with the CPAP (all in a row so far!), and I feel awesome. The tech I had at my sleep study told me to wait until I got a full week in with the unit, and she was right. Now I won't even take a nap without the mask because I can tell such a big difference when I wake up. Best of luck to you, I had some ups and downs, but hopefully you can weather through any you come across.
