ResScan for newbie

Post by wagepc » Thu May 03, 2012 1:56 pm

Hi Everyone,

Thank you for being so welcoming and for sharing your experiences with those of us who are new to CPAP. Although I'm interested in eventually getting the dental appliance, I must say that the CPAP has been no problem for me. (ResMed S9 Autoset.)

Here is my question: I started the process of downloading the ResScan software, and I got to the part where it asked me to verify that I'm using the software under my physician's direction. I'm not, not yet, at least. I'd just like to see more of what happened than that I used the machine five or six hours last night. How do you approach your physician with this question?

Thanks!

Mary

p.s. I still say I don't snore

He said,"yes", in my case--at least telepathically.

You can also use SleepyHead. I have information about it in my signature line. No disclaimers there except the usual software disclaimers.

The "use under physician" thing is a legal disclaimer because the software does offer the capability to alter pressure settings with the software and the official stance is that nothing is ever altered except by a physician's directive. It never hurts to look though.

I don't recall getting such a question when downloading and installing ResScan.

And IMHO no one should have to answer such a question.

Please feel free to send me your email address in a private message.

Nate

It's on the download link thing for registering to get the active link for ResScan 3.16
http://www.resmed.com/int/assets/html/s ... c=patients
You have to put a check mark in the box next to this.
"This product is only to be used under the direct supervision of a trained Physician. Please confirm that the downloaded software will be used in accordance with this requirement."

That is all..no big deal. The required fields must be filled out but they don't check things. They don't send you an email and if Mickey Mouse at Disneyland fills it out and checks that little box...the link for the download will pop up.

But I never know what version of ResScan I have and also where it stores the data?

I used a fictitious name, and gave myself a fictitious medical title as well-
-one that has no look-up number, but can still write RX's.

The version number is under ResScan/Help/About…

And unless you changed the location, the data is in the place that Windows typically puts such files by default:

MyComputer\C:\Program Files\ResMed\ResScan3\Patients

I just checked the box and downloaded the software. No one at ResMed is coming to your house to check.
