Zeo Price Doubled

Post by edm_msu » Fri Apr 27, 2012 1:38 pm

On April 12, 2012, a new Zeo Personal Sleep Manager cost $107.97 at Amazon. Today, April 27, a new Zeo Personal Sleep Manager cost $220.68. In 15 days, the price DOUBLED. Be fast if you see a low price.

Odd, I wonder if that is Amazon price automation jockeying around. I see on Zeo's web site it's still $149.

Amazon sounds like a better place to sell than to buy?

What is the SKU of the one you are tracking?

A google search on the SKU might be helpful.

Regards, Nate

I've had that happen when shopping for the zeo and another item on amazon. After a week or so I checked again and the price was back to normal. Not sure why it happens but it makes me less likely to purchase there. Kinda sleazy. I wonder if it's based on hits or maybe cookies they store on your computer. No way to know if we all get the same price...

Some products on Amazon are indeed tied into algorithms and sometimes the algorithms are counter intuitive. I've seen articles about some cheap products shooting up to be millions of dollars, so I went and looked... Yep, they WERE millions of dollars. This happens if more than one vendor for the same product decides to base their price on other vendors' prices and if two of them decide to be slightly more expensive than the others, they go in a locked loop skyward. Here's a guy's blog post talking about a situation where a book about flies went to $23,698,655.93

It takes a computer to really foul things up.

I also have been watching the price at amazon. I am looking for the bedside model - no smart phone here.

A few days ago cpap.com was 149 give or take - same as the zeo site. I haven't checked either one since.

I had in my possession a few weeks ago a "used - like new" zeo from Warehouse Deals. I sent it back - it had been used for at least a week by the previous owner and the serial number wouldn't register. Maybe I should have pursued it further but by the time I saw a non-new headgear followed by over a week's usage followed by the inability to register it in my own name, I had enough. I can buy new headgear and do buy from warehouse deals often, but being "like new" and not being able to register it without a hassle was unacceptable. I bought a "used- good condition" vacuum cleaner same order and it had never been used - the parts you need to put together were still in factory sealed bags.

I have been watching for another good deal on amazon and well, it ain't happening. The last warehouse deals one was probably the same one I returned - the price was lower.

If you watch the amazon prices, these are all marketplace vendors and one vendor is listed 2 times with two different prices and another one says the machine isn't for sale. The prices aren't even close to being acceptable.

Interesting article Max.
I started to buy a $60 book and got suckered into the $50 off if I applied for their amazon card. When I found out the discount wasn't going to apply, I got ticked and backed out and cancelled the whole transaction.
I still needed the book so the next day I went back and it was $360!
I checked a week later and got it for $60.

Jules, I bought a used one on Ebay. I emailed ZEO and they contacted me right away for the serial number and reset the account. It was easy.

As an aside of some interest, I got my Zeo Bedside on Amazon for $122. I dunno... watch Amazon, Zeo, maybe other web sites. I'm a guy that likes to buy new, I guess most of us do, I don't like the issues of used, particularly stuff I put on my body. I got a used pickup late last year. Then I put had to put on new heads for a couple thousand bucks, now a transmission for about $3,600, before that was a full brake job, next I need to do ball joints and a rear seal and... I find buying new is cheaper in the long haul and more reliable.

I just googled "ZEO" to find out what it was, then checked on Ebay. $95 Australian, but then $63 postage from the US. The cost of freight out of the US is astounding.
Cheers,

Mick.

That is a fairly common technique used on Ebay. A low price is made up for by the shipping cost. Sometimes a $1 item will have a $20 shipping cost. Pay attention to the total price, not the selling price. The fee used to be based on the selling cost. Now the fee is based on the total cost, including shipping. BTW, how much is the shipping cost to ship the Zeo in Australia? It is probably still high.

Hey all,

I was going to order the Zeo Bedside from their website but apparently it's sold out until sometime next week. Where was it selling for $95.00?

Cheers,
