My pie chart only had grey and yellow

Post by AVMO » Sun Apr 22, 2012 11:30 am

AHI= 0.00

Last nite was day 6...I slept longest ....over six hrs...I went to bed earlier...fell asleep faster (on my stomach) and took 1.25 mg Ambien ( against Dr advice ) My mask (look below) does not bother me at all...I play a little game before I go to sleep..I'm a fighter pilot going off on a mission....It takes me to dreamland much quicker then ruminating about my life, upcoming events et al...

When I first started therapy and trying to adjust to the exhale pressure I used to make a game of it in my head to see how long it took me to not fight the exhale. Each night I counted the seconds and my goal was to always have less seconds than the night before. Of course I never really kept track of the seconds so it wasn't a real precise game. It took me about 2 weeks to get the "seconds" down to 5 or 6 breaths and exhale was no longer even really noticed. Inhale is easy but exhale takes a bit of work and focus until we get used to it. My starting pressure was 10 cm not horribly high but not like 5 cm either.

Congrats on the lack of color in your chart!

Last night was #51 for me - I had a streak of ten days where AHI<5, but last night broke the streak with 5.13. It takes me 2 breaths to start the machine, and 4-6 to start exhaling without pushing. Pressure is fixed at 12. Considering my original sleep study showed an AHI of 80.7, I'm a happy camper!

I always, and have for many years, go to sleep with the radio playing. It gives my brain something to track for a bit so it doesn't go of on a tear of its own, and I can focus on the good music instead of the annoying permanent sound track in my ears (tinnitus).
