System One humidifier...

Post by scooter133 » Fri Apr 20, 2012 12:27 am

I had a Remstar M200 ( old old ) unit with humidifier. With the Comfortgel blue nasal mask I'd set it on 1 and get some rain out and go through most of th water in the container in a single night.

Same unit, with the Quattro (FX or non FX) and I can set the humidifier to 2 and be okay with rainout and 1/2 or a tad more of the water is used.

On the System One unit I just got, I fill he humidifier up to the line, set it to 1. And thw water can last me a week in there.

I don't wake up feeling dry or anything...

Better unit needs less moisture?!?!?

I had an M series with the quattro and went through most of the water in a night. I had the humidifier set to three and rarely had dry mouth. Very rarely did I have rainout and if I did it was extremely minimal but I use a hose cover.
Last night I used the new pr system one and had the setting on 3 and had woke up a few times with dry mouth. I ended up using less water than normal but I was also trying the quattro fx mask. I like that new mask if I can only get it adjusted correctly.

The System one humidification system default setting uses a humidity sensor at the machine level to help determine the level of humidity that we start with in the room and it bases its heating cycle off of that sensors readings and the desired humidity level that is chosen.

The older heat only systems just kept adding heat and had no way to really know what the humidity level actually was in relation to the ambient room humidity. Lots of off and on heating and will use more water...

So yes...System One can achieve the same desired results with better utilization of heat sources and will give the same comfort level with less water used. Water usage will still vary though..it depends on the ambient room humidity still. Dryer room air will still use up more water than a more humid room.

Edit: The system on can also be used with heat only..like the older machines. Just a setting in the clinical set up to "Classic" mode.

The sensor on mine is turned off. The tech said to try it with it off. I will give it a couple more nights with it off and then try it a few with it on.
