Do Apneas occur breathing in or out

Post by jacks321 » Thu Apr 19, 2012 10:15 pm

The reason i ask is because i always believed that apneas happened when breathing in. but when they wake me up its because i can't breathe out. I would appreciate any feed back from fellow pappers.

I think that they can happen at any time if the conditions are ripe for them.

I look at it like a soft hose, when you suck on it, (as in pulling a vacume on it) it being weak closes off, preventing air from going in the lungs. Maybe the reason some see it on exhale is that they have already exhales all the air they can, and have no more to exhale. If you have air to exhale, the pressure of the air will open the pipe. Jim
