ResMed Quattro FX for her full face mask

Post by alw » Fri Apr 06, 2012 3:49 pm

Hi.
I am a newbie about 3 weeks and I have not felt any better yet. I use a ResMed Quattro FX for her full mask and the darn thing just freezes me the air that comes out of the front around the top of my nose is so cold and I don't know how to stop that from blowing on me I don't know whether to put a piece of tape over it or just what to do, could someone tell me what to do and how to block this off? I would appreciate it deeply for some advise on this.

Hi - I'm a newbie too. Whatever you do don't block those vents. That is for the CO2 to vent. Does it bounce back off your pillow and make you cold? I started using a small airline type pillow on top of my regular pillow. Allows more freedom for the mask to hang off. I think there are special pillows you can buy as well. Put in your equipment on your profile so we can see what you have so we can help. Is your hose heated? Perhaps heating your humidifier more will make the air warmer and not bother you as much. How are you adjusting to the mask otherwise? Have you tried some different ones?
I am pretty new to this too - just about 9 weeks so I may not be of much help but others will chime in. How are you sleeping and feeling?
we will come up with help - just hang in there!
Beth

Beth.
Thank you I am sure glad you let me know about that because I was about to block the vents off.
I usually sleep on my back of course and the mask is straight up I guess it is bouncing back from my cover, I will try turning up the humidifier to make it a little warmer and see what happens. I do have the ResMed Quattro FX for her and the ResMed S9 machine.

Thank you
Anna

Which model ResMed S9 machine? What does it say up by the knob in upper left corner?

There is software available if your model S9 happens to gather full details.
Some models have a SD card in the back but all they gather is how many hours you used the machine.
SleepyHead will work with the S9 machines...information on it is in my signature line.

If you see the word "Escape" somewhere in the name...you may have zero data except hours of use or limited data.

S9 Escape...hours of use only

S9 Escape Auto...hours of use, AHI and average pressure...that is all.

Full data machines have a lot more data available both on the LCD screen and with software.

I don't think there is a change in the temperature of the exhaust when temp is adjusted for the humidifier.

I just pull the sheet over my hand or aim the vent over my head. Be careful to not block the vent with the sheet though.
