mask vent blowing keeps hubby awake....any tricks

Post by kwcrnp » Mon Mar 12, 2012 8:40 am

well lately my mask vent is blowing on my hobby and keeping him awake. I sleep better on
my right side and us switching sides won't work. I was thinking of pinning a pillow case to the mattress
between our heads and to the head board. This would be less intrusive then a pillow
between us.
Any thoughts or other suggestions?

It happens to everyone. Easiest is to face in opposite directions. Some people put a pillow between.

It depends on the mask you have.
I have a nasal mask and prefer the hose to come from above my head. It's a bit stuck between the head-board and the cushion. If you let the hose come from under the cushion more in the middle of the bed than above your head, the air blows to the side of the bed, not to my partner. It works in about any position.

I just face the other way or sleep on my back. I used to turn from right to left, but found it an easy habit to break since I want to be considerate of my partner.

maybe one of you could move down a little, if he moves down a little it should miss him and if you move down a little maybe it will hit him on the arm instead of the face? that's if turning away isn't an option and your pillow case plan doesn't work. good luck.

I made a deflector out of packing tape. Its a flat piece bent into a U and taped down on either side of the vent. The top and bottom are open. The air flows straight out of the vent and is deflected up and down. I use a Mirage Quattro that has a single vent over the nose. Its a bit more noisy with it than without, but its better then blasting my wife in the face.

I used a strip of the thin type pot scrubbers taped onto my Breeze with a piece of double sided tape.
but due to changing back and forth to different masks I now use a slab of foam which is wedge shaped
and so sits in place without falling over.

This may sound weird, but sometimes I just pull the covers up right over my head. I do it to block out light and noise, when necessary, but it would shield your husband from the vent airstream as well. All your air is coming in through the hose, and sheets and blankets are not substantial enough to prevent adequate venting.

I actually purposefully aim my vent at my wife sometimes when she's sleeping for lulz. She screams out 'I didn't ask for air conditioning!'. It cracks me up. Why would you want to stop annoying your husband? Just go with it, get the tension out!

Get a Saint Bernard dog and have it sleep between you.

Failing that or in case of allergies, a pillow will work.
