I'm looking at this as possibly a win-win.
If the OP's hubby has apnea, gets treated, feels wonderful;
then it could easily follow that the stubborn old fart will give his machine another go at it.
Sometimes stuff works out.
Do stress that he needs a sleep study, just to rule out other health problems.
That done, sounds like he might be a candidate for patient of the year.

Never said he was going to blow out a lung.

Also we don't know if that machine reported is an Apap or in Apap mode or even what ranges its set too. Many times people confuse what they actually have, without seeing what gear they actually have, it could be anything set to who knows what. Pretty much anyone can "Tolerate" using the gear if they try hard enough and long enough but the whole point of trying the unit is to

A. See if in fact there is a an issue
B. Be able to Prove it
C. not make some other condition worse
D. Not use the machine and think its helping you when in fact its not.
E. get properly setup once an issue is verified

How are you going to do any of those things without collecting proper data?

No one night most likely won't be a physical danger issue but if that one night or even one month of diligent effort stops him from going to a doctor and seeing what the O2 issue is about because he cant get the gear working right and doesn't know the risks of NOT figuring out the O2 issue he is setting himself up for a more serious medical issue down the road. So no I don't think any of the points I made are over blown.

I am all for a guy trying to take care of himself but with out knowing how to do it right and just diving in and expect good results is kinda nuts. I wish the OP would have her husband join the forum, fill out his profile and then we could more easily help him through doing it if he wont go get a study.

I didn't mean to attribute that to you. It was a concern of the OP:

Thank you in advance for answering.
