machine confusion
Hi - I keep reading about all the data everyone else seems to be getting from their CPAP machine. I really have no idea what you are all talking about! My DME did not tell me anything about being able to retrieve information from my machine. I would love to know how to do this, but I just don't have a clue. I've been on CPAP for a little over 4 months and all I really know is that I do feel some better. It would be nice to be able to plot my progress in some way. Can anyone help get me started?
Re: machine confusion
The software that is most discussed is called SleepyHead which is open source and can be had at no cost (you should donate however) and it can be found at http://sourceforge.net/projects/sleepyhead/. Looking at the description of the software, I'm not sure if it is compatible with your machine. The second option is to determine if the manufacturer will provid you with a copy of their particular software. In my case I have a ResMed machine and Resmed will allow you to download their software so I have both installed. Sorry I can't be more helpful in your case.
Re: machine confusion
SleepyHead should work with your machine. Check my signature line for User Guide if you haven't seen it.
You can also use either Encore Viewer or ENcore Pro but SleepyHead is better, smaller, faster and much easier managed so I would try it first.

Re: machine confusion
Thanks, Pugsy! I downloaded Sleepyhead and registered, now it's telling me to import some data and I don't know what I'm supposed to do to accomplish that. I really need this process "dumbed down" as I am pretty much lost!
Re: machine confusion
The User guide will explain import process.
Short version is (Windows OS)
Click on new location...navigate to the drive letter that your SD card is inserted in.
Make sure ONLY the drive letter is in the "choose" line. If you have the SD card folder in that line you have gone too far in the navigation process. This seems to be the most common error...people go to the folder itself and not the drive letter.
User guide link is in my signature. In the User guide is an image of what you should see regarding only the drive letter.
If you are using a Mac computer...especially need to read the User Guide.
Having the software look for the proper folders this way enables us to also use files saved to our computer instead of the SD card. So while it seems a bit odd at first and counter to what we would expect..if you see PSeries folder in the navigation line you have gone too far.

Re: machine confusion
Pugsy, I'm so sorry to be so dumb, but where do I find the SD card?
Re: machine confusion
Oops...in the back of the machine just above the filter and right under the edge at the top.

Push in gently to disengage and it will pop out so you can remove it.
If you don't see it...is there a modem covering it up? Modem for the DME to remote access your data? Normally these are removed after 90 days. The modem can be removed to get to the SD card..
No SD card at all anywhere? Any generic SD card will work. I have a Sandisk 2 GB I got at Walmart for about $10. All you have to do is insert it into the slot shown above and let the machine do whatever it does. Some data is stored on the machine and it will write that data to the SD card.
Wave form flow rate graphs are not stored on the machine and are lost if the SD card is not inserted.

Yes! There was a modem covering it up and I now have the little thing in my hand! What do I do now?
Re: machine confusion
Find the SD slot on your computer (same slot that you might use the SD card from a digital camera)...sometimes hard to find...some computers don't even have one and you have to get a reader/adapter. Something that will plug into the USB port on your computer and have a slot for the SD card.

Re: machine confusion
Thanks so much! I will have to get an adapter, I guess. Where would I be able to find one, do you have any idea?
Re: machine confusion
WalMart has them. Radio Shack...online sellers, Best Buy or just about any place that have SD cards and computers. Generic will work. Doesn't have to be special name brand.
They will look like this

Pugsy, thank you so much - you have been most helpful! I will get the gadget and see how far I get by myself.
