I'm using a nasal mask. Maybe one of the nasal pillow experts will help you out with advice. It takes some time to get used to this. Everybody's different. It usually clicks quicker for those with a positive, can-do attitude. You're on your own here. YOU CAN MAKE THIS WORK!
DO IT!

You have to look at it like you're taming the savage beast. It's taken awhile and I've certainly lost some of the fights, but I have tamed the savage beast!!! Now I love me some S9 My S9 is one of my closest buddies

This is possible! It is not always easy.
I takes WORK--sometimes a lot of work (start early so you won't be doing it when you are totally too tired)
In the end---it is so very, very WORTH IT!

I agree with what some of the others have said. You need to get the leaks under control by either adjustment or a different mask. But you also need to power through it at night and do whatever it takes to keep the mask on at night. Fixing the leaks sound like it is the key. I had to fight through leaks at the beginning too but after a couple of mask exchanges, I think I have a good handle on it now.
The goal is to leave the mask on all night and take care of your health; not to provide the DME with compliance data so they can get paid. If they want to get paid, get them to get you a mask that works for you.

Yeah for some people CPAP ain't easy. But it is life saving if you can get it to work. It does take logical perseverance to see what is going wrong and how to fix it. You really get used to it. I love my CPAP now (although I would rather sleep naturally) and even with a pressure of 20 it doesn't worry me. I can sleep 10 hours like a baby with it because I sorted the problems (more may pop up but I can sort them).
Water should not spray you and there should be NO air in your eyes. Just a steady stream of air coming out of the mask from the little holes that won't bother you at all. Someone said you were covering your vent holes? That is bad, the vent must be unobstructed to allow the Carbon dioxide from your lungs out. If you don't let it out you will get carbon dioxide poisoning.
You CAN do it! Just gotta work through the problems on this forum, there are heaps of threads here on mask fitting, and there are products to help like http://www.cpapmaskgel.com/ to help seal around the mask etc.
Remember you are sick because of sleep apnea - it is a real disease and MUST be treated right now. Also remember not to vent on RESMED, they have done nothing wrong - and the staff don't deserve abuse. I am glad you didn't find the number for RESMED head office in Sydney, us Aussies react badly to verbal abuse! A lot of customer service people here can't handle verbal abuse even IF they deserve it! I know how you are feeling though.
If CPAP doesn't work for you and you have standard Obstructive Sleep Apnea (not central apneas or other weird ones), you can try a prescribed fitted dental mouthpiece that brings your lower jaw forward while you sleep (same price as CPAP and only may work a little bit if your throat closes due to your lower jaw). You can try surgery where they shave skin of your throat and remove your tonsils but this often doesn't work and is hell to recover from apparently. If your OSA is caused by obesity losing weight may help the OSA but there was a statistic that said only 15 percent of obese people ever lose the weight and keep it off.
The only sure way to treat OSA apart from CPAP is a Tracheotomy - not nice. They cut a whole in your neck and jam a sort of tube in - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tracheotomy. It works but is drastic.
CPAP can work just as well and has other benefits like getting over colds faster and if you use the humidifier your singing voice is improved! Not to mention avoid having holes cut in you that germs can get into by bypassing your throat/nose and tonsils which are meant to catch some germs. Apparently the nose hairs have antibacterial substance on them that stop some germs.
Calm down, don't blame others and SUCCEED AT CPAP! You can DO IT! It is up to YOU!
