The S9 usage is a lie... :| (It rounds... up)

I took it in, ready to give them $30 and be on my merry way...

They said it wasn't enough.

I stopped the CPAP machine the second it switched over to 4.0 hours because i can not take this bloody piece of crap spraying cold wet icees in my eyes and on my face all the time.

Apparently, it rounds.

It rounded 3:58 and 3:59 up to 4.0 on the machine itself, but doesn't round in Resmed program.

and now i am doomed to have to do it all over again.

and i am SOOOOOOOO MAD >:|

I called Resmed and they said "LULZ OUR PROGRAM IZNT ROUNDINZ"

Sorry to say, it did. I asked him if he knew the programming of it, he said no. So how would he know? He said that the 'firmware' is loaded In Australia. I'd like to talk to them, but I'd have no idea who to call.

So i emailed Resmed and demanded an apology from the devs because i have to restart this damnable misery of 4hours a day wearing this crap before i canstart WEARING IT AT NIGHT WHEN I NEED TO...

My supplier guy said "well if you're not going to wear it just return it" Yeah, like - i just spent $1200 on a sleep study, i dont effin think so, not returning that. I'll hire my brother $50 to wear it for 4hrs a day.

Guess what? I want to wear it, BUT ON MY OWN TERMS. I wanna try and wear it at night ok? But if I cant sleep and can only wear it for an hour, than thats all I need to do, so i can try again tomorrow. but NO I AM FORCED AGAINST MY WILL TO WEAR IT FOR 4 BLOODY HOURSSSSSSSSSSSSSS..

SO i got my 21/30 days in @ 4hours, but it doesn't count. I am so pissed off, you have no idea. I wish i knew a bit more about the legal system or something, so i could get something done for this - either them for not telling me about this, or the programmers for rounding on something that legally needs to be precise.

God i dont even know what to do, i am so upset, im just gunna stomp around the house for the next 2 weeks or something

My S9 counts the number of nights slept over 4 hours. 4.0 hours will not count! You have to get to 4.1 hours--another 6 minutes.

Why did you stop it, you should keep using it, how in hell are you going to get used to it if you don't use it.

You are not FORCED to wear it, its your choice....but if you don't wear it be prepared to be wearing adult diapers sooner than you want.

You don't need to read up on the legal system, you need to read up here on the forum. I would suggest that you start reading right now and keep rready until you have digested the wonderful information here that WILL help you.

Stop feeling sorry for yourself and get to work on fixing this therapy. You need to be using your machine all night every night. You are not the only one that has had problems getting started, once you have read all there is to learn here, you will find so many good suggestions on how to get GOOD therapy.
Good luck..just remember persistance and patience are the keys to good therapy.

I'm just guessing here, but if you were as good at fixing what's wrong (the reasons you can't go more than 4 hours) as you are at whining and boohooing, this therapy would do you worlds of good. Did you expect everthing to go perfectly right out of the box? Straightaway I'd say you need to do something about your hose management and humidity adjustment. Work on your mask fit and get some sleep! Geez, I bet you're a pleasure to be around.

Because I have to wear it while I am awake, because I cant sleep with it on!! I will lay there for the ENTIRE NIGHT and not fall asleep. The guy at the place said to try wearing at at day time till I get used to it.. im still not used to it!!

thats why im using it in the day so i can get used to it and hopefully will be able to use it at night!!! The only thing I'm able to do to sleep at night is my doctor gave me ambien.. and it works.. a little. I can sometimes fall asleep with it on, but i wake up after 3-4 hours and rip it off anyway :/

I don't think you understood what I wrote before. You need to get the usage hours to 4.1 for a night before it counts as a night of over 4 hours. 4.0 hours is not enough. Click on the info when the machine is off to check it. If it only says 4.0 hours, you need to mask up and turn it on for another 6 minutes.

It also helps to make sure your nose is clear. Take a decongestant about an hour before sleeping. Blow your nose before masking up. Netipot can help sometimes also. If my nose is stopped up a bit, it can be a struggle. Have had that problem the last 3 nights and other times.

Ive been TRYING SO HARD to get this to work.

THey dont even know if Sleep Apnea is the problem here, okay? I have chest pains.. unknown causes... since November 2010..

and ever since then, I am so more edgy and everything.,. Before this, i never get mad over anything, its just ridiculous how much being sleep deprived and in pain can cause someone to be so... upset, you know?

Yeah I think one problem is my nose is -too- clear or something.. because it runs constantly when the cpap is on.. so its cold in my eyes, and colder and wet on my nose... rubs on my lip

If there is air blowing in your eyes, something is not right. Have you tried different masks? Is your mask leaking? What mask are you using? The air shouldn't be cold going into the mask. Are you using the humidifier? Have you tried a hose cover? Have you tried using the ramp feature while you try to fall asleep?

Rather than rant about the compliance issues, why not ask questions about the problems that you are having, so that maybe you can find a way to be more comfortable and actually sleep with the machine?

Almost everyone has trouble when they start CPAP therapy...most people suck it up and keep trying until it works. Wearing it while you are awake to satisfy the insurance will not help your health. There must have been a reason that you were prescribed this. Perhaps if you took the time to list your mask and machine in your profile we could help give you hints on how to adjust.

The problem with cold air in your eyes is from either the wrong mask or the adjustment of the mask. If you're being sprayed with water, you need to lower your machine below the level your head is. If you continue to get "rainout", then you should think about getting a heated hose and reset your humidity settings. The whole key to getting the good sleep therapy you need is to get your equipment working for you properly. I've only been using this equipment for 2 1/2 months and I'm working on my 5th mask. I think this one is a keeper and I'm sleeping better than I have in years. But I think most of us have gone through some miserable nights. Ask for help and you'll get it in here. It's not an automatic process....work on it until it works for you. Good luck.

You have all the signs of OSA including the peeing at night, anger, depression and stupidity.

Start another thread with the exact problems you are having with the mask and people will help you.

Nobody much cares how the hours are calculated because if you don't wear every night for every minute you are sleeping you are shooting yourself.

You're angry. I get that. You resent having all these problems. I get that. You're frustrated and need to vent. You aren't the first person to feel like that here. You want help? OK. Nobody can help you until you calm down and give us something to work with.

A fair number of us have had trouble getting used to CPAP. All kinds of problems, all kinds of solutions. Let's start with the basics, and go from there. The way to solve problems is to take them apart and solve one bit at a time.

To help you, we need to know exactly what machine you are using (manufacturer and model); whether you have a heated humidifier for it; exactly which mask you're using; and, what pressure you were prescribed to use.

When you're feeling up to it, you can put alll that information in a signature file so it's there for anyone when you ask a question. If that's too much right now, just put it in a post here.

That'll get things started.

Then, tell as specifically as you can what the problems are. You mentioned icy air in your eyes - so you've got mask or hose leaks. That's miserable but it's also fixable. Tell us enough about the mask and rest of your setup, and let's get to work.

Do you realize that since you have been covering up your vent on the mask you got madder and madder........good sign of co2 poisoning. Once you get your machine on a permanent basis, you won't use it anyway. Your attitude stinks, you don't want to use it. What about "patience and persistance" do you not understand?
