What do I need to take away from a sleep study
What do I need to take away from a sleep study
As I mentioned I am a newbie. however, I had a sleep study done several years ago maybe 3-4 and I "think" they said my sleep apnea is mild to mod. But they said I do need a cpap machine. Yesterday my dr. said that it could help my high b/p, my stress and anxiety issues. Since it has been several years I am not sure yet if my insurance will require a new sleep study (the first was an overnight one) or if they will even pay to have one done if I even want to go thru that again. IF I do have another one done this time I want to know what questions I should ask when getting the results back. Last time they just said yes you have it and go get a cpap machine. This time I want to know enough to be able to answer the questions I have seen posted here. Any advice on what knowledge I should walk away with for my personal information?

Get a copy of the report for your records. When a CPAP is prescribed, get a copy of the prescription for your records. The CPAP should be a data capable machine.

baprater,
Even though you're not really "newly diagnosed", it sounds as if you are basically starting from scratch in deciding to treat your OSA. Hence I'd start out by looking at the standard advice offered to newcomers.
For my advice to newbies, see my blog.
For advice on navigating the process of obtaining your equipment, see JanKnitz's excellent What you need to know before you meet your DME. JanKnitz also has a nice entry on Data capable machines.
Best of luck!
