It's Family Day

Post by tetragon » Mon Feb 20, 2012 10:01 am

Hooray for holidays created by politicians and their campaign promises to create a holiday in February. At least that's Ontario's version of its origins.

Happy Family Day Ontario. BC hasn't caught up yet and it is a long February this year.

Happy Family Day!! You know, your politicians wouldn't have had to create this holiday from thin air if your Canadian ancestors would have joined with the Colonists in throwing out your motherland's troops! Then we would all have been one really big happy family!

Interesting to suppose what it would be like if---(segue music)
Where would the capitol be?
Would we ALL have to learn French?
No wonderful Canadian comedy--would there be any comedy at all?
Would there be thanksgiving--when?
Where would the hippies have gone in the 60's to avoid the draft?
--Maybe we would have stayed out of that one.

Um… you misspelt "capital". But not Toronto, it would be anywhere but Toronto. It seems like everyone hates Toronto.

In Ontario, for high school, for the current curriculum, yes. But grade 9 French is easy.

Of course there would be comedy, they make it in overseas. You would still want the results of CanCon?
chunkyfrog wrote:Would there be thanksgiving--when?
It would be in October, of course. November is a very strange to hold a harvest festival.

What draft? My Twentieth Century History class seemed to think that the century ended with Pearson sending in the peacekeepers.
