frequent nighttime urination

I'm looking for someone who had frequent, very frequent, nighttime urination before being diagnosed with or treated for sleep apnea. If so, did being treated for the sleep apnea solve the problem?

Yes, my husband woke 4-5x a night before cpap. Besides OSA he also has BHP(moderately enlarged prostate). He now gets up 1x/night, but if he sleeps more than 8hrs it might sometimes be 2x. Much improved.

I used to wake up 2 or 3 times a night to use the bathroom. Since being diagnosed with severe sleep apnea and started using cpap I sleep through the night.

I'll give you another ..YES. Before CPAP I was getting up 2-3 times a night. Now...maybe once. Of course, I'm an old guy with an enlarged prostate.

I'm another one that was up 2-3 times nightly. Now if I wake up at all it is rare.

I also was a 2-4 times per night depending upon when I would actually get to bed. Since starting therapy for OSA in December, I can recall only one night where I've woken up to urinate one time...and that may have been because my son started crying.

Also consider seeing your doctor to be evaluated for diabetes. Symptoms include polyuria (frequent urination), polydipsia (frequent drinking), polyphagia (frequent eating), weight loss, and fatigue (to name a few symptoms).

Yes, for 40+ years I got up at least 3x per night to pee due to chronic kidney disease. Since my first night on CPAP over a year ago, I've gotten up to pee one time on about 3 occasions and I can put those down to drinking a lot of water too late at night.

thank you all so much, i'm tested for diabetes on a regular basis due to another illness i have, so i don't have it now. but 4 times a night is a slow night for me. sometimes i get up every hour. this has been going on for about 15 years. it is killing me. i've had my machine for awhile and am having a hard time using it. i've been to 3 different doctors who say can't figure out why this is happening. the last dr i saw did mention the sleep apnea. so i decided i needed to commit to this. the only other thing that i, or the drs can't figure out is that it appears that i always have a bladder infection. i notice someone mentioned the enlarged prostate, but did any of you that are women have that problem?

I'm female and before CPAP, I would be up five or six times per night. Since I started, I have never had to get up in the night - it was a rather startling change!

Since UTIs commonly make you have to urinate frequently, getting that cleared up would be a top priority if it were me.

Oh - another thing that can make you have to get up at night a lot, and that can go with frequent bladder infections, is kidney stones. I have had two episodes of those little devils (despite drinking 8 glasses of water a day since I was 12), and both were accompanied by the symptoms you mention. I never even knew I had them until one got stuck

After cpap: 0 times (and I can sleep 8 hrs or more...)

I must say that I never had the problem of an enlarged prostate. I guess I'm just a bit too young for that. But as for the nightly pee trips, I used to make them a few times a night. That stopped when CPAP started.

I my case it's the other way around and also depended on my age. Before having a sleep disorder I hardly got up at night to pee. Now I do it 3 to 5 times while CPAPINg.

Check: NOCTURIA. Taking Flowmax helps but then the stream might continue on the floor. It weakens the sphincter.

Dr Barry Krakow shows in one of his lectures why NOCTURIA worsen during sleep disorder and using CPAP.
