My Nose hurts :-(

Post by wittymomma » Fri Feb 10, 2012 7:58 am

I am sure there are other threads but searching for nose or pain or nasal leads to a MAJOR amount of pages lol. I only have 30 minutes before my trip to walmart lol.

I use that Ayr gel around the entry area of my nose.. but I dont have any "healing" stuff I can squirt up my nose lol. I really wish they had neosporin for the nose lol.

I will update my link below, when I get home.. But I think I am doing good in the leak department. But I am fighting my allergies & my nose is draining & stuffy & soooo sore.. between the sneezing & blowing, I have killed it lol.

Any advice? it hurts so bad.. and of course you keep rubbing it.. cant leave it alone lol. the bridge of my nose hurts too.. (when I touch it)

Besides that, I woke up with a sore throat.. FUN!

I know not 100% SA related.. but I am sure the air going up my nose isnt helping.. My humidifier is on 2.. and yes we are running the heater at night and fans in the day lol. Love Georgia weather

Thanks for your help!!

Momma: if I was to recogmend a mask for a starter, I would always start with a nasal mask. It is less intrusive, and if it works for you, you are probably better off. Many folks here that use nasal masks have had your problem and will help you thru it. That being said, if you cannot stop the irration in your nose, you may need to consider a full face mask. Some here may beg you not to give up on a nasal mask (because they looove it....), but they are not helping you by steering you away from a possible solution. I too, started out with a nasal mask, and it killed me! Plus I have a deviated septum, so a nasal mask was out of the question....

Best of luck...

Sheriff

Try Lanisnoh HPA Lanolin. It's intended for nursing mothers to use on their nipples. Put a little on the nose.

A nasal cushion mask might work out better.

Try and figure out if you're mouth leaking.

I feel for you, I have a regular Chap Stick, not medicated, no fragrance added that I use for my nose outside to just inside to help me heal. When I am home, I also have a Palmers Cocoa Butter Stick for under my nose and if I get a red spot on the bridge of my nose I will use it too. I don't use the Palmers while using Cpap, but on occassion when my mask killed my nostrils yes I used the chap stick, yes it has a small amount of petroleum but it never hurt any mask I was using, it's more wax than petrol. Hope you get some relief fast!

I like my pillows to a point.. I am def. getting use to them lol. I took some of the ayr gel today & um coated the inside of my nose lol. it feels a bit better now, just stuffed up from this dumb cold. not sure what to do as I think my insurance will only pay for the 1 mask. I can change it, but I like it.. when I can breath threw it lol. Tonight is going to be loads of fun..

which reminds me.. I should download this past week & see if I have leaks & stuff.. (this is me acting like I fully understand what I am talking about lol)

ty for your help guys..

I had the identical problem described by you. The minute I took off my mask and got up in the morning, the inside of my nostrils would burn like fire and I would sneeze and my nose would run all day long. I couldn't make it stop and it hurt like hades.

I solved the problem by nightly applying a small bud of the Lanisnoh HPA Lanolin to a Qtip and gently and carefully coating the inside of each nostril with it just before going to bed; and also wearing a light-weight chin strap under the Swift FX even though I thought I was not a mouth breather.

In retrospect, my theory is that I was opening my mouth during sleep, which was causing my machine to raise the air pressure up my nose to try to compensate, making it feel like a firehose shooting up my nostrils!

A few nights of this Lanisnoh HPA Lanolin treatment and my nostrils began to heal, but I still use it as a precaution. Try it. A little goes a long way and it is a good investment even though it appears so expensive for such a small tube. I don't think the other products mentioned do as good a job IMHO.

Regards, Nate

I found it in the baby department at Wal Mart, and at Target for about a buck more.
It was with the breast feeding supplies.
Kind of awkward for a guy. . .

Just wanted to update.. The inside of my nose is good now.. I turned off the humidifier and within a day my sinuses cleared right up.. I also started taking a vitamin that you are suppose to take when you are sick.. SO I am not 100% sure that the humidifier was causing all my issues or they just both helped kwim?

Anyways. My only issue now is that the bridge of my nose hurts for the first few hours when I get up in the morning lol. But after those hours, it feels normal again..

I did think of trying a FFM but am not sure which one I would like to try.. I cant have anything on the bridge of my nose so I am off to google/search this site

Thanks for reading!!

Oh & I wrote to Lanolin company & they sent me a sample they also included BFing stuff LOL. But I have a new niece coming in to this world so I will pass it on to her mommy I am keeping the baby wipes & the Lanolin though LOL.

I'd be interested in which vitamin you were taking.
