Over the Counter CPAP Wipes

Post by BoomersRock » Wed Feb 08, 2012 8:57 am

Some have suggested buying Beaumont Citrus wipes but I don't see that they are stocked locally in the stores. Are there any other brand of wipes that would be ok for
using my mask? I understand, no alcohol and no moisturizer but some of the ones I looked at had lanolin in it.

I think that the original Wet Ones w/red cap has low alcohol content...

Use Pampers Thick Wipes for Sensitive Skin. Each store also sells the generic brand of Pampers Thick Wipes for Sensitive Skin. Watch out for aloe also. It leaves a film. To me, the cpap wipes are too expensive and the wipes for baby's sensitive butts do just as good.

What is the purpose of wipes if you wash the mask? Is it a substitute or suppliment?

I use WalMart's brand of baby wipes. It's in a green package. A "natural" type. Since the mask I use, uses disposable cushions, I don't clean them, I wipe them every morning with the baby wipe. The cost for the 40 Count package is $0.97; much cheaper than $18+ for the CPAP Citrus Wipes!

I agree, I don't really want to pay for shipping if I don't have to. The DME would sell me the Beaumont Citrus wipes for $14 plus shipping but I can find cheaper online. Would rather buy something over the counter and not have to deal with an online purchase. I can get a mask, what every 3 or 6 mos? so if I wreck it so what.

Also, I am trying out a ComfortGel FFM currently. I see from Respironics website that this mask has been updated with ComfortGel Blue. Does anyone know the difference between the two models?

Just look in the grocery store or pharmacy in the baby aisle and check the labels on wipes for alcohol. I use whichever one is cheapest and tear them in half as a full one is too big.

Cheers,

Most folks don't wash their mask on a daily basis. I wash mine every Saturday using a toothbrush and baby shampoo. I then soak it for a few hours, then rinse real well. On a daily basis I wipe the mask with baby wipes to remove any oils accumulated during the night. I have recently started using pada a cheek liners so, I swap them out every other day and wipe down the mask with baby wipes every other day.
