Even when CPAP works, sometimes your body reacts strangely at first. You may be sleeping well without oxygen deprivation and be sleeping deeply for the first time in years. It can be like being really tired, getting a really deep nap and finding you feel more tired than before.
Sometimes, feeling tired for a few days is a sign something's working. Especially if you've only got two nights of full sleep. Keep at it for a while longer and see if you feel better. If you're just catching up on sleep debt, it should get a little better pretty soon, and then slowly taper off.
Of course, something may not be right. Have you downloaded the software and looked at your results?
Do you think you're sleeping well?

Re: at the end of day 5 i feel worse, lethargic
My sleep doctor warned me that sometimes the mind can take up to a month to trust the cpap machine. For many years it stood on guard, sleeping with one eye open so to speak to keep you alive and get you breathing again. Now you stick a strange thing over it and expect it to shut up and go to sleep, but you know, it knows that the only way you stayed alive this long was for it to stay on guard and it is not stepping back so quickly.

First night I started my CPAP therapy I panicked.
I thought It was impossible breath against 12cm pressure and sleep through the night.
After 1 month therapy I sometimes check my CPAP during the night the be sure It's turned on.
I still sleep bad, even with AHI under control.
Apnea it's the first thing to fix.
It takes time to your body and brain get used to mask and pressure, I think.

Your machine is fully data capable. What do your reports say? Do you have the software available so you can see what is happening in regards to the data the machine will gather? Perhaps it would be a good idea to take a look and see what is going on. Perhaps leaks are a factor or therapy is not optimal for some reason.
You can use either ResScan or SleepyHead with your machine. I have information about SleepyHead in my signature line.
ResScan information can be found in UncleBob's signature line memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=38643

Thanks I will check on the soft ware. I am not up to date on all this tech.Pugsy wrote:Your machine is fully data capable. What do your reports say? Re: at the end of day 5 i feel worse, lethargic
I mention using the software because when I first started therapy I felt horrible, horrible. Back then I had to buy the software and a special card reader and it took me a couple of weeks to get it all together.
One look at the reports showed that my pressure was not optimal and I was still having way too many events. This may or may not be your problem but you need to rule it out before investigating other possible reasons.

This yes! It took me 3-4 months and I still sleep very lightly.BlackSpinner wrote:My sleep doctor warned me that sometimes the mind can take up to a month to trust the cpap machine. Also, if you were really sleep deprived, for some time, you may find yourself unable to sleep deeply for some time because getting just a little sleep feeds into insomnia. Your old brain thinks its got enough sleep. It takes time to fix that. And, finally, it takes time for physiological changes to happen where your heart and brain adjust to expecting higher blood oxygen saturation.

@ Blackspinner - You're the first person on the forum whose stated what I've gone through "sleeping with one eye open." Can I tell stories on that!Mr Bill wrote:This yes! I can most certainly testify to that one! Oh, and let's not forget about adding a FFM mask to the mix, you're covering all oxygen receiving airways It doesn't get any scarier than that! Yes, there is DEFINITELY a trust issue that needs to be established. I consider it becoming one with your xpap. It's an individual thing when that trust is achieved.
As I'm also thinking...You may want to do a word search on "Sleep Debt". This may also be what you're experiencing.
Pugsy is correct, you need something (software) to check your data. When you get that going, forward the a copy to the forum for review.

Not saying there's nothing else that needs addressed, just would like to point out that 8 hours is for many people considered enough for basic maintenance sleep. You are in recovery phase, and in general when one is recovering from any illness or bodily injury, extra rest is advised. I think that once the mind realizes it really can sleep, it desires more of it until it is no longer needed. I'm an advocate of getting extra sleep in the beginning. You body may be telling you that 8 hours isn't enough right now.reffus1881 wrote:Sorry to complain so much but i do feel worse than when i started i slept 8 hours each of the last 2 nights.
