selling my machine

Post by sleepyinRCSD » Tue Feb 07, 2012 1:43 am

I just had surgery to correct my sleep apnea and now I'd like to sell my machine.

It is a resmed S9 elite with h5i humidifier, travel case, etc.

Please make an offer.

Thanks,

Brian

The surgery is often only a partial fix; and quite often not permanent!
---You need to confirm you are 'cured' with another sleep study.
Just saying!

Keep your machine...if the surgery doesn't work out, you will be happy that you have it.

Are you even SURE you OWN the S9 Elite? Was it an insurance purchase or an out of pocket purchase? Most insurances require some type of rent to own period during which time you do NOT own the device until completion of the rent to own period. Your insurance and DME provider have the right to request proof of compliance at any time during that rent to own period. If not compliant they have the right to reclaim the device.

I had nose surgery. If I had the choice, I would use the CPAP machine 24x7 for the first week. I managed to inhale a bug while I was healing and that turned very bad.

I would advise waiting a month before selling. Set the machine on max pressure of 4 and see if your AHI isn't 0, your still having issues that its seeing.

If your done with it. People want to know how many hours it has (press the two rectangles for a few seconds and you get more info) and if anyone in the house is a smoker or has pets since its a real risk to some people if they are allergic. The s9 has two sponges in the airflow circuit to keep it quiet and any small particles will get sucked into it and stuck (which I wonder why that isn't field replaceable... if I was resmed looking at the S10... I think I would add a replacement for that... as well as screws so its not snap together)

Just for your info as far as value, there are zero hour S9 autos floating around for $450 but I don't know the details of them.

Yes. I am SURE I OWN it.

I had the surgery because the machine doesn't help. I tear off the mask right after falling asleep.

I had septoplasty with turbinate resection, uvulopalatopharyngoplasty, tonsillectomy and lingual tonsillectomy. There isn't any tissue left to be in the way. I'll probably have another study to see what the results are, but the only other option is mandibular advancement.

I forgot to mention it has about 300 use hours.

Now that you've had surgery, you might not rip the CPAP off your face anymore! CPAP is much more tolerable following septoplasty, turbinate reduction, etc.! I wouldn't say MMA is your only option. Use CPAP until you repeat your sleep study, and IF you're "cured", then sell the CPAP.

So how long did it take to recover from the surgery? How big of an improvement have you noticed since the surgery? Congrats on being CPAP free.
