Switching Masks regularly

Post by Katagal » Fri Jan 27, 2012 5:30 pm

Once again I have a question or two for the knowledgeable crowd here

I have purchased a nasal pillow mask and after some tweaking, found the right size pillows that sit comfortably in my nose and got a few good nights sleep, however I now find that even if there is no leak (that I can tell) it has become very noisy and prevents me from sleeping deeply because the noise keeps me awake (like a mini cyclone in my head)

I realised after a few nights back on my old but mark making nasal cover mask that I had not changed the mask information on the CPAP machine like I had seen the technician do when I was trialling what type of mask I initially wanted to purchase.

My question is does it make that much of a difference to not update the CPAP machine when I alternate masks?

I imagine there would be a difference if there's a setting change for it. Let us know after you change the setting to the correct mask.

The most obvious use for this information is to calculate the proper value for intentional leak in order to report the correct value for unintentional leak. There might be some minor differences in apnea detection, exhale relief, etc.

I've been using the Swift LT for several weeks now, but yesterday afternoon I took a nap and used my Ultra Mirage II nasal mask. Didn't think about changing the setting on the machine. Napped a little over an hour, and when I looked at the readout on the S9, I got a red frowny face for that little bit of time. Last night I decided to use the nasal mask again, and changed the setting on the machine. Woke this morning to a green face. Don't really know what this signifies, except it does seem to make a difference in how the machine reports if you've got the correct mask type selected.
