Thyroid issue for sure. If your doc is not an endocrinologist then get one. Also, ask what your TSH, T3, and T4 numbers are. A good endocrinologist will interpret and explain these to you. Learn about the new normal TSH range, which is significantly tighter than the old standard.

Anxiety, heart-racing, and tremors are some of the symptoms I had when I became unmanageably hyperthyroid. This eventually turned into thyrotoxicosis and, trust me, this is something you do not want. I now have no thyroid, and will take synthroid for the duration of my time on earth.

FWIW, my endo insists on synthroid. She says its chemical makeup is consistent, unlike the generics which may vary slightly from maker to maker. Drug stores buy generics from the cheapest source, whose different manufacturers are not regulated to the standards of the real deal, resulting in an inconsistent product. Even slight differences in makeup, or dosage, are critical in thyroid hormone treatment.

Of all my thoughts above, the most important one is make sure a good endocrinologist is overseeing your care.

Tony, thanks for the info. I'm brand new to this so I was just going by what my doctor said. I trust him but it seems like the initial dose was way too much. I'm definitely going to ask for Synthroid if I continue to have anxiety. I'd rather not take an anti depressive if I can help it. I guess I should call my insurance company about an Endo doctor too.
