Has anyone had success with the Quattro FX?
I am trialing the Quattro FX from CPAP Library. I like it a lot but I am having issues with leaks. I watched a video this morning and think I am putting it on incorrectly. Hopefully I can get it right.
So I will start with the FX at night and when I can't stop the leaks I put on my Mirage Quattro FFM. Well now that mask feels huge on me. I wear a small, but think I may need an x-small. I am going to the DME on Saturday to be fitted for something else. I want the FX to work.
Any success stories?

Re: Has anyone had success with the Quattro FX?
I demoed a size medium one for a week with the CPAP Library program and liked it so much, I ended up buying one. I tried a size large one too, but that leaked like crazy, so the size of the mask and fit do make a difference. I've been using it for over 2 months with very good results. I just watched the videos on how to fit it using their "swing and seal" technique, then played with the strap adjustments. It's tricky, but I was able to find tensions that worked for me. The top straps shouldn't be over-tightened. The top part fills with air and "floats" on the bridge of your nose. Also, if you decide to stick with this mask, I highly recommend the Padacheek mask liner. It makes it much more comfortable to wear and easier to fit with very low leak rates. Good luck!

Re: Has anyone had success with the Quattro FX?
I've had success, for 9 weeks today, it's the only mask I have used, besides at the fitting session at the DME. I'm probably lucky that all masks I tried worked fine with me, I must have a face for this I have a Large, though I'm probably a "medium and a half". The only time I have leaks is 1) I lay on my tummy and the pillow pushes it and I get leaks by my eyes (most common place for this mask I think) and 2) last night I had some leaks that woke me up, but I noticed today the seal on it was getting white powder developing from hard water. A vinegar wash removed them. I should be good again tonight.

If your pressure is above the 10cmh20 mark you may experience more leaks with this particular mask. Also, this mask does have a tendency to move around alot and that too will cause air leaks. My thought would be for you to try the Mirage Quattro - small. This is the mask prior to the FX. It is a tried and true mask. Also, if you have a narrow bridge ( upper part of your nose ) this mask has a more narrow contour.
I hope this helps and good luck!

I tried the Quattro Fx, but I own a Respironics full Life, which is much more stable.
My leaks are still somewhat unsatisfactory--time to call Pad a Cheek!

Re: Has anyone had success with the Quattro FX?
I've been using the quattro FX for about 10 months and I am quite satisfied with it. You do have to put it on correctly and I completely agree with what b360155 said about a padacheek liner. Definitely get one.
I think that making the bottom straps more snug and the upper straps less snug works for me. I am not having any significant leak problems. some nights my leak is 0.0.
The minimum pressure I use is 13 and I normally stay within 13-15.
I think it's so much better than the quattro mirage and the ultra mirage. everyone is different so you have to keep trying until you find one that you can live with.
cleaning your face with a hypoallergenic baby wipe before applying the mask can help too.

Re: Has anyone had success with the Quattro FX?
Thanks everyone! I always wash my face before "masking up" so that isn't an issue. It is nice to hear that people have found success with this mask. I am trialing the small FX, which I think is smaller than my Quattro size small, so If I can't get the FX to work, I am going to ask to try an x-small Quattro, which I didn't know they had until just recently. The bridge of my nose is narrow and I have a small nose in general. After wearing the FX for a few hours the small Quattro feels like it is taking up my entire face!

I have been using it since it came out last year. Because of the size of my face the large mask works great.

Re: Has anyone had success with the Quattro FX?
I have used one for a couple months, first mask that I've had success with. Granted, it was frustrating at first.
I cut up a strip out of an old pad a cheek liner and put it on the bridge of my nose to help cut down leaks around the eyes. Works so far.
Average AHI last couple weeks is 2....that being said, I still feel the need to nap after the gym and before work...usually 45 min - 1 hr.

Re: Has anyone had success with the Quattro FX?
I use the Quattro FX when I have nose problems that prevents me from using my Swift FX. Out of the different full face mask I have tried I like the Quattro FX the best, but I still like the Swift FX better.
The Swift FX gives me an average AHI of around 1.5, while the Quattro FX gives me an AHI of around 4.5, which is good given my sleep study was over 70 AHI.

Re: Has anyone had success with the Quattro FX?
I've been using the FX for a week now. Still trying to dial it in. Read another post on fitting the non FX version (lying down while fitting and making sure you are inhaling to get full pressure for the floating fit.) it all word fine while I was on my back. As soon as I turn to my side I get bridge of my nose leaks into my eyes. I tried to readjust while on my side, though while 2 of the straps on on the pillow it's hard to get to the to make adjustments while in the 'optimal' position.
I also wake with the weepy and gookie eyes...
I like the fit of the FX more then my comfort blue nasal mask, though I need to figure out how to get rid of the leaks while on my side...

Re: Has anyone had success with the Quattro FX?
That is the exact problem I am having. Perfect on my back, on my side it leaks into my eyes. I am a side sleeper so I had a rather frustrating night last night.
Has anyone hae success using this mask while sleeping on their side? What is the secret?
Thanks,
Gina

This is the same issue I was having with it. I had wondered if my pressure was also to high for the mask as I have to keep it fairly tight so it doesn't leak. Currently my RX reads 18cm, so I really don't know what mask I should be looking for if this doesn't work. The DME wanted to try this one first to see how it worked.
It seems like just putting pressure on the side of my head where the straps are, is enough to have it blast me in the eyes with air. The mask itself never touches the pillow.

Re: Has anyone had success with the Quattro FX?
I'm an intense side sleeper and have used the FX for 7 months now (with a padacheek mask liner) and have had no problems. One thing that helps is the pillow and pillow position. You can order a buckwheat hull pillow (amazon) and you can make a little depression with the hulls where the mask goes and that way the pillow isn't pushing on the mask. In any case, I no longer have a problem with any pillow, I guess I got used to how to sleep with the mask on so that it doesn't leak any more.
Thinking of quitting CPAP?
No problem, here's the first thing to do when you quit:
Advanced funeral planning. When you give up CPAP, you'll probably need it.

Re: Has anyone had success with the Quattro FX?
I guess it depends on what your definition of success is. I had used it and it worked okay for me. I was able to keep my AHI below 5, but I had to fiddle with it constantly and had to fight leaks constantly. I switched to a nasal pillow and just love it over the Quattro FX as I can throw it on and go right to sleep and not fuss with it at all.
If it works for you, than that is great. For me it was just a lot of work.
John
