What Type of SD Card do I need for my ResMed S9 AutoSet

Post by BigJohn2 » Fri Jan 06, 2012 9:07 pm

I inherited a ResMed S9 Auto Set and a H5i Humidifier and the SD card is missing, can I use a common SDHC card like I use in my camera? What size 4G, 8G, or 16G would be best?

I believe 2 GB SD card is the standard. I don't think the machine will fill it up.

Others may work. Give them a try if you've got one lying around.

S9 machines are persnickety about the format, but it will probably offer to format the card if it doesn't like it. If you write anything to the card or put it in a Mac, you may find the machine will want to format it again.

This topic had a familiar ring to it, so I did a search on SDHC. I found a post that I did, stating that I tried using an 8 gig SDHC card as a test, and I gave up on it after 3 minutes of the S9 trying to format it. I also saw a post where someone said an SDHC won't work, and one that said it will. If you have a spare, it won't hurt to stick it in the S9 and see what happens. You can always let your camera reformat it for camera use.

I found that merchants selling 2g SD cards (not SDHC) are easy to find by doing a search for them on A****n, and most are well under $10.

The S9's can't handle the higher capacity SD cards (at least not with the current S9 firmware). I believe it should be able to handle up to a 2GB SD card max. When I checked some computer backups of my card at various dates, the maximum amount of data on them was just under 26MB. If you can find a 512MB, you'll have plenty of room to spare. I've used SanDisk brand cards with no issues. They should all work fine if you stay under 2GB.

The standard card is 1 Gb, but from previous posts over the past 18 months I think any SD or SDHC card will work.
There is no benefit from the larger cards due to the limited amount of data stored.
I always format my cards in a computer.

Ok I have a little different question about the S9 and the SD card. I'm about to get an S9 autoset. The DME is going to want me to bring him the card after a month or a week or whatever he said. Regardless....

If I just stick another SD card in when I take the original one out, will the machine write ALL of the detailed data to the new card? Or will I need to download the data before taking the card to the DME so I have it?
