what happens if you...

change pressure on cpap machine that gives no nightly feedback? i haven't tried this but...my machine is very primitive and i want the optimal cpap experience. i was thinking of unscrewing the bottom off the machine and changing my pressure until i found the best one. my (former) dme provider once changed it in about 2 seconds flat. how hard could it be? or am i naive? what is right/wrong with this idea?

Well, in the positive column:
- might feel better at new pressure

and in the negative column:
- might not feel better at new pressure
- might not be able to get back to current pressure
- you're in that cpap phase where "every night is a new adventure", so would you even know if adjustment helped?

thank you, bill. an internet cpap vendor suggested that my "hurlathon" adverntures with masks in the middle of the night might mean i need a higher pressure. but chuckle, chuckle, i might get myself in trouble i don't need (changing the pressure back to original.) i just assumed it was a matter of moving a dial and it would move back again.

Checking to see if that's the case would certainly be easy enough. I was thinking along the lines of a setscrew and lockdown nut, but I really have absolutely no knowledge of how to set pressure mechanically on any CPAP machine. .

i did just read an internet thingee (not here) on how to change the pressure on my machine. the "mechanic" there said following his instructions might mean you may not be able to get the thing back to where it was again. maybe it's time to open the thing up and check it out...
