How many people who use a pressure of 18 or higher can successfully use pillows?

Is it rare for someone to be at a pressure of 18 or higher? Or rare for them to be using pillows? Don't be shy, folks...

When I was on my FFM, I was at 20 many nights and suffered a lot of leaks. When I switched to nasal pillows, I dropped the pressure I believe to 17cm the first night and slept really well and didn't have any leak issues. After a few nights, I went into APAP mode and put my range at 10 - 20, but it spent most of the time near the lower end.

So, yes, I did use it for a few days at the high end and I really didn't have too many issues. I sleep on my stomach, and my pillow (to lie my head on) will push on the other pillow (for the CPAP) and that might help keep it in place.

I use nasal pillows with my ASV and my pressure can be in the 15-18 range sometimes. I have no problem with the pillows - but it's not a constant pressure all night. I sleep on my back and sides only.

At one point early in therapy, my IPAP would hit 18 once in a while, and I used, and continue to use, nasal pillows. My IPAP still hits 16 now and then.

Nasal pillows have a bad reputation among DME people for use for higher pressures, but that is no reason for them to steer any patient away from them if a patient wants to try them, in my opinion.

My bipap pressures are ipap23 & epap 14 & I have no problems using my swift LT but I also use a fix similar to the panty hose fix to stabilize them.

I use a Swift FX nasal pillow mask at a steady setting of 19 with no problem.
I tried every fullface mask on the market with only marginal success. My DME and Sleep Doc both told me my pressure was too high to use pillows so for 2 years I fought the leaks from a ffm and in desperation I tried the swift fx and used it with a chin strap. From the second night I have slept like a baby. It has been 2 months since the switch. My doc is amazed and my DME is also incredulious. My AHI's are now under 5.
Give it a try. It may not be the answer for everyone but it stopped a 2year nightmare for me.

Yes, I'm on a ResmedbS9 ASV at a pressure of 23 at times when pressure support is needed.Ive used the Swift Fx mask with pillows since July. I change to new pillows the first of each month. for maiming consistently good seal. This morning my unintential Resmed leak was just 1, with my mouth taped. My AHI was just .7, The other great thing about pillows is a slight leak never wakes me up and never mask farts. Last nite I sleept 8.1 hours . I kow some say pillows won't work at high pressure. You would need to kill me to get mine. I achieve these results most every nite! Hope this helps. Dan

Bipap at 18-22 and no problems at all with my pillows. I adore them and wish i'd have tried em years ago. Only time i ever have leaks is when laying on my side which i dont do much anyhow due to back issues.
