Background: I was reading old posts about snore detection by the Respironics Autos and what could cause it to misread non-snores.
Is there any chance that the machine would hear my HUBBY's snores and think they are mine? I don't know how it "hears" them or if it somehow senses them from the pressure changes?
Last night when I was trying to go to sleep, my husband was snoring pretty loudly (didn't stop breathing tho!), and I really wondered about this.
Is this a silly question?

Snore Detection Repironics
I wonder if the "snore" that the Respironics APAP detects is a function of sound/vibration or flow restriction pattern.
The Encore Pro records snores that my bed partner says are not there. Since beginning therapy, my partner has not mentioned that I have snored at all.

I still get snores, but not nearly as many since I switched to the Aura. However, my husband says he occasionally hears me snore - but not loud or long.
I do know that when my sister passed away, and I had cried for hours, my snore index was sky high. I know that night my nose was very stuffed up from crying, and I'm sure I mouth breathed a lot.

Snore Experiment
Search on snore and experiment to find the experiment that Derek did a while back. He found several reasons for false positives. (Sorry, I can't seem to get the link posted in properly.)

New Data on Snores Detected by Respironics Auto BIPAP
Got my software, and here is something interesting. I had almost no time at pressures below 10 last night, since my minimum was set for 10. The only time I was that low was during about 20 minutes of ramp-up time yesterday.
Low and behold, the machine recorded that I snored about 40 times at pressures of 4-5. That HAD to be my husband snoring, or else a false reading...I was awake at the time, and therefore I would have known if it had been me.
Doesn't anyone know exactly how it recognizes snores?
