Newbie here with questions...

Post by chearyshe » Mon Dec 19, 2011 6:08 pm

First I'd like to know it there's a list somewhere of all those acronyms. What do they all mean??!

Second question: Does anybody here know anything about tracheobronchomalacia?
I've got that too, along with a long list of other ailments either related or unrelated to my breathing problems and apnea.

I spent two seperate nights at the sleep clinic. I didn't sleep too well there, but enough to get a titration of 8. I haven't had an appointment with the sleep doctor yet, after the second night, and hopefully it will be in the near future. I had a sleep test 20 years ago, but there was only one cpap company here in this country and I had no opportunity to "test drive" machines or masks. I used a ResMed Elite for a year and then gave it up because of terrible leaking from the mask. This time I'm much better prepared because of this forum and the advice you all can give me.

When I know more about my situation I'll post again, but one things for sure! I'll keep reading and learning...

I think most of the Acronyms you can find here.
wiki/index.php/Category:CPAP_Definitions
If you have one that isn't, just ask and someone will explain it.

Welcome to the forum.

Sorry, I am no help with your second question.

I always start looking for info with google. Have you tried googling tracheobronchomalacia?

Yes, I have googled the condition and came up with lots of info, but I'm interested in TBM in relation to cpap/vpap treatment and what kind of machine and mask are best. That kind of information can only be gotten here, I suppose, and from the sleep doctor. I want to come to the appointment with him prepared. I also have an appointment with my pulomologist in on Thursday.
