I use a chinstrap and it has been 95% effective (my estimate, of course). Lately, I've been getting this urge to drink water to alleviate the dryness to no avail. I've successfully used tape without the chinstrap, but I don't want the tape to leave marks/rip off the skin around my mouth. I want to stick with using a chinstrap, but I'm open to other options.
My question is, is there anything specific that I can drink to alleviate the dry mouth? I'm asking because the dryness is annoying but mostly bearable. It's also important to mention that I've been very ill last week and was not able to use my CPAP, so I may be still suffering from dry mouth from that. If this continues, I may go back to using tape. What ointment or cream can I use to prevent the skin irritation from mouth taping?
Sidenote: I started an unrelated topic and I haven't replied yet, I'll get to it ASAP! Thanks everyone.

Full face mask has been my only dry mouth remedy; chin straps often are no stronger than jaw muscles.
Water is still good-- 8 cups a day (half a gallon, or 2 liters for you metric folks)

I'll work on drinking more water and wait it out to see how things go. I started out with a nasal mask, then moved on to nasal pillows; I'm not sure if I could get myself to go all out with an FFM.

Water of course is the main remedy.
But to help alleviate the dry mouth feeling you can try Biotene mouthwash, Biotene toothpaste, and Biotene gel. If you use the mouthwash right before masking up along with the gel if necessary, that might take the edge off the dry mouth syndrome until morning when you can once again start drinking plenty of water.

Full face mask because you are mouth breathing and losing your therapy.

You can buy a spray at the drugstore to help with the dryness (very similar to drops you'd use in your eyes).
