Resmed Service

Post by macminn » Tue Dec 06, 2011 8:40 pm

I have a Respironics M Series CPAP bought in 2008. I was traveling and the machine got knocked off the bed during the night. Ever since then it's been acting funky. When I plug it in, it beeps and flashes the lights rapidly, and the screen says "Service Needed". If I unplug and plug it back in a number of times, it goes away. I do have a backup at our cabin, so I plan on going and picking that up next weekend.

Since I bought it on cpap.com, how do I go about getting the machine serviced?

M series machines are Respironics machines not ResMed.

Was water in the humidifier tank when the machine fell? M series machines had tanks that easily spilled the water into the electronics.

You can call cpap.com and see what they say about service or contact a DME that supplies Respironics equipment and see what they can do. Most likely it will cost more to ship it and get it fixed than it is worth but doesn't hurt to ask.

I don't use a humidifier, so water isn't it.

No humidifier? Then likely the electronics were jarred a bit. Something may be loose especially since you say it works after repeated plugging and unplugging.

Same advice though unless you live close to someone who can work on these machines and perhaps sort out the problem. Or you yourself if you are really handy like that.
