New Please help need advice

Post by monkeymuse » Mon Dec 05, 2011 11:42 pm

I am a new user of the Cpap. Well right now I have an Aflex system and it seems to wake me up alot more than my Cpap did. But it is all I can afford right now. My question is: Did anyone have trouble with burpin a lot with thier Cpap/Apap? I wear it and then feel all "clogged" then I cough or burp! No gas, Just feels like a lump in my thoart. What should I do?

I have a Swift FX for her mask so it is small. I have the heat set to 1. Most nights the settings hit 9.0

I also have a dry cough most nights is that normal? or do I have a cold? I cannot tell.

What pressure was your old CPAP machine set for?

And what range of pressures (minimum and maximum pressure settings) is your Auto with Aflex set for?
ResMed S9 VPAP Auto (ASV)
Humidifier: Integrated + Climate Control hose
Mask: Aeiomed Headrest (deconstructed, with homemade straps
3M painters tape over mouth

You are probably mouth breathing.
Many Apap machines can be set to cpap format.

Is it the Aflex that is bothering you? What machine are you on? I cannot tell from the picture.
Good luck

dry mouth may equal mouth breathing while sleeping. i solved this with a sorta comfy neoprene chin strap. cinch up tight so you know your mouth won't be able to open. the chin strap with the FX may work for you. i found this to be the key to my cpap success. nearly uninterrupted sleep, less trips to the bathroom, and waking up after 7 or 8 hours of sleep and saying "how'd that happen?"

I was able to keep my mouth closed during the sleep study, and I wake up with the tip of my tongue sore. I think I am biting it at night. I have a Resmed A-flex with the range of 4-10. I liked my Cpap better it was set at 9.0 and I was sleeping most of the night. I have a fear of being bound so I can only stand the FX mask. Just the thoughts of chin strap set me into a panic attack. I just do not know what to do.

My advice?

Get your hands on a clinical manual so that you can get into the clinical menu.

Then set the current APAP machine to run in CPAP mode with the pressure set at 9.0. Set up the C-flex the way you want it if you were using C-flex on your old machine. If not, then turn C-Flex off.
