Hey Matt, what pressure was your prescription written for? I know you said the reports showed 4-6. They always start at 4 and go up til they knock out the events, ideally with you in supine REM. So your report should tell if they were able to do that. I still wonder why the pressure was set at 4-7. Maybe your doc wanted to make sure you got an autoset. Do you have a follow up scheduled?

The prescription was for 4-6 as the 6 was enough to eliminate apneas ,but the doctor told me this upper limit could increase as i changed sides or when sleeping in different positions (i only slept on my right side during the whole study) so he bumped it up to 7.He would go up to 9 if i hadn't told him about the problem i had a few years back with too much pressure waking me up panicked feeling like drowning from too much air.
I had a followup 20 days after i bought it (15 days ago) but this was during the honeymoon first phase and everything was fine.It was a few days later that i started having problems and i found this forum.

Last night was even better, but i still have some problems with leaks. The mask position was close to correct-i made sure the straps were right where they should be but though i had less leaks ,they still exist to the point they wake me up 1-2 times per night with that strange sound. The leaks are around the mouth area and in case the mask crawls up the face during sleep right below the eyes (fortunately this happened only once the last 2 nights).

Just to provide feedback,i lowered the pressure to (a steady CPAP) 6.6 from 7 and the leaks disappeared !
It seems the mask in combination to my face provides leak proof performance up until 6.6...

So,after only 3 nights using the advice of this forum i returned to great sleep quality, proved by a 2.1 AHI.
A BIG thank you to those who helped me when i needed it !

Matt, I happy for you that you have gotten such quick results. You obviously had been doing the homework here that is necesary since you started.
Most insurance companies will pay for another mask at 6 months so you might want to experiment with another type. Pillows maybe. They are lighter and more comfortable IF they work for you.
I think you have a good sleep doc too. The 4 was too low but he could have written you a script for straight 6 cpap and you would have had to fight for the autoset and maybe not gotten it. It a great machine. If your needs change, you will be able to adjust.
If you are feeling noticeably better, get on with your life. You can drill down in the data and chase numbers,... but it can easily become a hobby or an obsession. I think your AHI will probably drop some just from your body getting used to being able to sleep. If it doesn't, and you start having trouble, we'll be here.
