sleep apnea surgery results

Post by sherri » Sun Dec 04, 2011 2:08 pm

I did septoplasty, turbinate reduction and tongue coblation. 3 wks post op. Easier surgery than I expected. No pain. He doesn't use a splint anymore and less packing. Breathing after surgery was a surprise. Now if I have 6 hrs sleep with 3-wakeups, I don't feel exhausted. No zombie feeling at work at 8 A.M. and for the entire day. Now I realize after 4 years of cpap=apap several masks all kinds and 3 machines. 2 Ent Dr. and a Pulmonary Dr. it had to be the nose issue why I never got the benefit. Dr.'s never tell people or I wish my brother and I could have figured this out sooner. Brother had this Dr 6 months ago. P.S. no more snoring either.

Dr. is in Boynton Bch, FL

Congratulation!

How hi an AHI did you have before? I am asking because I read that such surgeries are successful for low AHIs.

Now all you need is a new sleep study to conferm the cure, and another every year to reconferm you stay cured. Jim
