OT: Does anyone use Frontier Communications Internet

Looking at them for my Dad. Up to xMbps doesn't tell you what it will really be. Does anyone use them? Your experience?

Yes, I use them (They were Verizon =.net here and then they took over), Last night at 1 P.M/ they went on vacation here, I didn't waste mu time trying to get them to fix it, I learned long age that's not productive, sopending 4 hours checking the problems you don't have with your computer, just because they can't get the internet routed to your line. They have a few levels of service, I'm on the second level, I get 320KBS download and 75 KBS upload speed. So far uncapped download. Jim

online 99.5% of the time, Rated not too bad, none are 100%.

I have them here as well. I get GREAT service, however, because I'm in a small village. I have the service tech's cell phone number. I call him and HE sets up the work order and everything.

3712Kbps down/448Kbps up. RARELY have issues and if I do.... I call Ken and he takes care of it

Thanks, They have a bait rate of $21+ for "up to 1 Mbps, and their "MAX" for about $48.00 they say is up to 7Mbps. He lives in a cornfield and I think they just installed the line... It would be nice if they guaranteed a minimum.
My ATT DSL is 3 Mbps and it's slow.

I take it cable is not available? But then it might not be any faster than a good DSL connection. My cable is about 5.4 Mbps download.

He lives in a cornfield. No cable. I can get it. Actually ordered it last spring. Guess the installer didn't feel like getting on a ladder that day. I saw him drive by. Kinda pissed me off so I haven't called them back.

I live in a small town in central Illinois. We were also Verizon just a short time ago. I had a lot of trouble being unable to get on-line or knocked off when I got on. I called their 800 number and let them run their diagnostics. Their conclusion was that there were too many people on my line and I was being knocked off. The only way to overcome it was to up the speed. They upgraded me at no cost. I guess they felt responsible or I got a rookie answering the phone. Either way I got blistering fast service now at no extra cost. Rasie some cane but don't get crazy, they really do want you happy.
