It seems that since increasing the pressure on my S9 machine, I now have a VERY noticeable "air" noise coming from my mask upon inhaling only. When I started therapy, my pressure was at 7, at which time I only remember that the mask was pretty much dead quiet.
Could that increase in pressure cause that much more noise. Again, this is only when I inhale that I notice anything. I don't think it is the ventilation holes, as the air seems to be coming out fine, as in I can't hear it at all until I hold my hand in front of the air coming out.
I checked upon waking up, and even when I'm sitting up on the edge of the bed I can hear the air noise when I inhale, and it is very annoying. Can anything be done about this?
Thanks

Have you looked at the software to see what your leak rate might be?

I have noticed my mask seems to be more "noisier" lately. I think it is normal. I think as you get used to your machine and all the quirks... (the venting, squeaks, etc...), we become more sensitive to the "little" things. My lovely and gracious wife says she can't detect any changes. Looking forward to what other folks have to say.

I guess one other thing I would look at is the anti-asphyxia valve. Go to the manual link that I provided and on page iv of the manual, and look for the item labeled 12. Maybe something is interfering with it and causing the noise.
Let us know how you make out.

Re: Quattro FX full face noisy on inhale?
OK, last night I checked everything before bed and I'm pretty sure I was actually hearing mostly the S9 machine more than the mask itself. I can see the water in the humidifier "ripple" whenever I inhale, which I guess is normal,.. I just don't recall it being that noisy the first month or so.
I haven't changed the filter yet, and it's been nearly 2 months. I've only taken it out and "flicked" it to try and knock out some dust, although it still looks clean. Could a dirty filter cause the extra noise?

It could be. My machine (which is not the same as yours) has two filters: 1)grey foam filter 2)white ultra-fine filter.msr0459 wrote: I haven't changed the filter yet, and it's been nearly 2 months. When I picked it up the clinician said to always use the grey foam filter and wash it weekly in water and then air dry (and replace every 6 months). As far as the white filter, she said it is only needed if there are very fine particles that the grey filter does not filter out and it must be replaced every 30 days. On my unit it goes underneath the grey foam filter.
I installed the white filter in my unit just to see if it made any difference. After doing so, I noticed that my unit seemed just a little noisier...not the Quattro FX but the CPAP machine itself. I took the white filter out and the extra little bit of noise disappeared. I don't quite understand why but it did make a difference.

I wonder if it noiser because at the higher pressure it's, for lack of a better way to say it, shoving more air in the hose.msr0459 wrote:OK, last night I checked everything before bed and I'm pretty sure I was actually hearing mostly the S9 machine more than the mask itself.
