ok so I have noticed a dramatic drop on the pressures needed (the number on the screen) between the icon auto and the m series auto.
on the m series my 90% pressures were 19.5, on the icon with the same pressure spread (13 to 20) the pressure is 17. ( another weird note is average ahi dropped from 5.5 to 2.1)
this was over 2 weeks ob each machine.
sooo I decided to plug both machines in side by side set them both to cpap mode, ramp off and on 17. then I tried them both one after the other. the pressure on the m series was less. I tried it with other pressure settings and same results.
I suggest you all try it out too if you have 2 machines id love to see the results

When recently upgrading Resmeds from S7 Autoset to S8 Autoset, I noticed my pressure required was right on the money, within 0.2 Could be there's a much greater difference in hardware and software between your two machines than between the two resmeds I have. I expect the S9 from Resmed, with it's improvements, could show differently.
Interesting observation, though. Maybe an annual pressure validation would be good preventative maintenance?

Re: EXPERIMENT ~ Different machines, different pressures
Hi Nichola,
I wouldn't put too much stock in the numbers. I was reading some data on a cpap machine and pressure accuracy was within .5cm and that was on a new machine.
And far as comparing AHI from one machine to the next...fugetaboutit. Just not meaningful. That both were under 5 is good news but that's about as far as it goes.
It's all a matter of relativity. On one machine...what happens when you raise the settings or lower the settings? If you really want to drive yourself crazy with data accuracy, you ought to buy a manometer and test pressures at the mask.
