I can't thank this forum enough for all the great information. By reading this site I was armed with the information I needed to talk to a number of DMEs and make the best choice. I called the DME attached to my sleep center, the DME attached to a leading Medical Hospital, and a local DME to see what was offered and what my out of pocket expenses would be. The sleep center DME offers only PRS1 Pros. The Hospital DME offers S9 Elites and PRS1 Pros. But, the local DME offers only S9 Autosets and PRS1 Autos. It appears that my out of pocket expenses are exactly the same at each DME. Without this site I would have probably have an Elite right now because I would have trusted the advice of the leading Medical Hospital. Instead, I'll be fitted with a PRS1 Auto soon.
Now, time to research the pluses and minuses of masks. Once my equipment arrives, time to research the software.
Thank you for this wonderful site!!! I hope I can pay back with information someone else can use soon.
Mike

There is nothing wrong with the S9 Elite...from the responses on this site, it is a great machine.House of Payne wrote:I can't thank this forum enough for all the great information. Right, LSAT. But... Mike's point, and it's a good one imho, is that by getting an autopap he will have two machines in one. An autopap which can be operated in either auto mode or in CPAP mode.LSAT wrote:There is nothing wrong with the S9 Elite...from the responses on this site, it is a great machine.House of Payne wrote:Without this site I would have probably have an Elite right now because I would have trusted the advice of the leading Medical Hospital. A plain CPAP, even a very good one, as the S9 Elite most certainly is, can be operated only in... guess what ... CPAP mode.
Mike may find that he likes, or does better, using plain CPAP mode better than autotitrating mode. It's nice to have two options available, though. In one machine.

Re: Your Site Made for Much More Informed Decision
It's great to be an informed consumer. The funny thing I noticed when I went DME shopping last December was that they all had M-series machines on display. I sometimes wonder what I would be stuck with if I hadn't come here first.
