I've read all the threads about traveling that say you should take extra hoses, masks, etc. as well as bring your prescription, in case something breaks. But I neglected to do any of the above, since it would take up extra room, and none of my equipment has broken for the past 5 months.

So there I was at midnight in a hotel room in Des Moines when I turned on my machine and noticed that something didn't sound quite right. I had a small leak in the hose right where it meets the coupling to the machine. Oops. Fortunately, a bandaid held it overnight. I'm sure it will seal with duct tape and make it through the rest of my trip, and I can trade it out for my spare when I get back home.

Or .... just take the duct tape. Which will also fix your luggage, your clothes, and sometimes your car.

I had almost exactly the same thing happen to me. Five years of traveling without any problem, then had an almost-new hose split right near the machine coupling. Didn't think of trying to use a bandaid, and didn't have any duct tape handy, so I just did without the CPAP the remaining few days of the trip.

Now I travel with a spare hose and a spare set of pillows. I also pack an extension cord, which I need occasionally since there aren't always convenient outlets near the bed.

Guess I'll put a small roll of electrical tape or plumbers tape in my bag.
