Hi Everyone
New to the forum here. I am also new to using the cpap machine.
I am having a problem with the swift FX mask. It just started happening in the last week. I have been using the cpap device for about 1 month.
I love the Swift fx mask. It is very comfortable, however the last two to three nights, one nasal pillow has been sliding out in the morning. It starts with a leak and then I can feel it slide out. I have not had this problem before. It is almost like the nasal pillow gets slippery or something
Has anyone else had this problem? Any ideas of what to do?
I have tried adjustments and also other size nasal pillows. Either they are a bad fit or same thing happens.
Thanks

inportsmouthva:
1----Check the fitting instructions again ref: strap adjustments, pillow size etc.
2----Search an old post of mine "tips for swift users" by ufo13 for my velcro fix to stablize this mask!
3----Search Laura's (rested gal) post of fixes for other helpful fixes for various mask problems!
Hope this helps!
All the best and welcome!

These nasal pillows wear out quickly. They get soft and "mushy" and don't hold a seal properly. Replace the pillows and all should be fine.
Medicare and many insurers cover two replacement pillow as per month.

It could be one of many things. 1. Your mask might loosen a bit during sleep. I move a lot from side to side and sometimes the velcro on the sides needs a little tweaking. 2. The pillows may need to be replaced. I nornally get about a month's use. This varies person to person. I wash the nasal pillows once per week, but I do have oily skin and that may contribute to the breakdown of the pillows. Just try a replacement pillow and hold onto the old one until you see if that makes the difference.
3. Sometimes the pillows just shift while you sleep and you have to reach up and adjust them. Have you tried a little dab of Lansinoh in each nare before bed? That may help keep the seal.

Re: Resmed Swift FX Problem...any ideas??
I'm not new to cpap, but am a fairly new Swift FX user - what I'm finding works best for me, is to not use the same pillow for more than one night at a time. I find that when the pillow is "new", it holds fairly well, but for me, if I use the same pillow a second night, leaks increase and only get worse from there.
What I'm now doing, and so far it seems to be working is, I have now accumulated a stable of 6 pillows (some trading, some buying on ebay), and I will use pillow #1, then the next morning remove and wash that pillow and set aside and put pillow #2 in to be ready for the next night. Follow this procedure each day and by the time pillow #1 comes back around, it's had 6 days to completely recover from being used.
It remains to be seen how long the pillows will last this way, but it does seem to be working for now.

Inthe middle of the night a baby wipe with on both pillow surface and nose cleans up excess oil, so it fits better.
I had Fx pillows only last a month-so don't expect too much.
