$99 for the mobile version. I wonder how those who purchased the Zeo for $400 when it first came out are sleeping

Dave,

Are you sure your PSR1 doesn't have a clock? Can't imagine it doesn't. Aren't your reports with respect to time of day?

I have had my Zeo since June 25th, same sensors. I'm thinking I should order some more just in case. I try to keep them clean by washing my forehead and wiping the sensors with a cleaner. I'm guessing they should last about 6 months since Zeo recommends replacement in three - don't know.

It has a clock. But it is set to GMT/UTC, and it not visible to the user on the device in either the regular menu or the clinician's menu. Actually, since my reports are off by one hour, I suspect they are set to one timezone different from GMT. And probably depends on whether it was manufactured during daylight savings or standard time. Sloppy quality control in either the software or the clock setting.

Hey Dave, just wondering if you decided to get a Zeo?

Dave, I stumbled on this thread. See the last post. Might be able to adjust for DST.

I really want to buy one, but I'm turned off a bit on each one.

I called Zeo to ask them some questions and I wasn't left with a warm fuzzy feeling about the person answering my questions. For each question the response was something like, "Hold on." ---wait--- Then he would return and answer.

Questions about Zeo Mobile:

Is the Android version available now?
Claims yes, but he said "there will be a free app".

How big is the application?
6.6MB. This isn't too big, but it's kind of on the big size.

How much data is stored on the SD card?
First he claimed it doesn't store data, and the data is stored in the headband. (WTF?). I then told him how I thought it worked, "Headband connected to the android via bluetooth which then wrote it to the phone's SD card".
He then said, 10kb / night. Very reasonable.

Is the data stored on the SD card, the same format that the Zeo Bedside uses?
No. (I also asked about the library to read the data, and he repeated it was not compatible. Said the bedside writes a .dat file, while the phone writes a .db file). Not sure what what format the .db file is. I wonder if this is some kind of Android specific file format, which still could be read, or some Zeo specific format.

What is the return/exchange policy?
Same as the bedside. 30 days

Are the headbands for the mobile compatible with the bedside?
No. This was a big surprise to me. Perhaps the originals are not blue tooth.

Bedside Pros:
o Already has been vetted, debugged.
o Data is definitely readable via third party software.
o Hack available to get real-time data.

Bedside Cons:
o Clock skew.
o Yet another device on the bed stand.
o 50% more expensive than Mobile
o If device fails, then have to buy new

Mobile Pros:
o 33% cheaper than Bedside.
o Fewer devices on bed stand.
o If device fails, easily buy a new phone (which I would have to do anyhow).
o Travels well
o Easily view data on device without having to upload first. I'm thinking something like checking on my data at lunch instead of waiting until I got home from work.

Mobile Cons:
o Incompatible headbands...no price set on their website for the headbands.
o Incompatible data format (however, the data may still be readable).

Having thought about all of this, I'm still not sure which to get. I'm thinking about waiting to see some reviews first.

Mmmm, yes I see your dilemma.

I think I too would wait on the mobile version. Once it's out, there should be ample info on Zeo's forums to determine it's usefulness.

My guess is now the headband transmits raw data to the bedside where it's decoded and written to the SD card. While with the mobile version, the headband will decode and transmit processed data to the phone. The phone will store decoded data and the app to display it. Just a guess, but it would explain the non-compatibility of the two headbands.

I ordered the mobile and already downloaded the Android app for my Bionic, installed and running. If shipping is done on the 26th, I may have it by Fri and can start collecting data....

Someone has to buy the first ones:)

Would LOVE to hear others' experience with Zeo.

I paid $200 or so for one from Amazon, and it was really cool for about a week.

Then every night after two hours it just said that it ran out of power - maybe some sweat from my forehead was shorting it out. Now it just gathers dust.

I think they spend too much on the super-slick marketing, and not enough making the device reliable.

Are there other devices like this?

I'm a bit of a data hound, and I'd love to get better data like this.

Did you contact them for a replacement? If it only lasted a week they should replace it.

I've used my bedside unit nearly every night since June 25th without any problems.

Zeo Mobile came in today and has been on charge. Will go to bed in a bit and play with it:) May be Sunday before I can post some initial data, but so far seems like a nice compact unit..

Thanks to me ordering the Zeo bedside from Amazon for $149 last week the price has now been reduced

Amazon has the Zeo bedside listed for $136 now while the Zeo mobile is still at $99.
