Can't view flow limitations ResScan ASV

Post by sleepycyclist » Mon Oct 24, 2011 7:51 am

Hello Everyone,

I am having trouble veiwing flow limitations on ResScan 3.13. When I go to graph options when I'm in the detailed graphs my options are pressure, leak, minute vent., resp. rate, tidal volume, events and AHI. No flow or flow limitation. Any ideas on why?

Thanks!

Well, if you have the older model Resmed ASV unit (as shown by your profile), then the reason is ResScan does not present the flow and flow limitation data is that the older unit does not collect that data. Only the newer S9 based ASV units collects that data.

Hope that helps.

I actually do have the S9 ASV unit, I'll try yo fix that on my profile. Now as I'm downloading previous days it is giving me flow rate but no indication of flow limitation so I'm wondering if it's a bug or maybe I need the 3.14 version.

If I remember correctly, you might want to let the SD card sit for a few days. If you take it out too early in the day, it does not properly close and save all the files. Thus, you don't get the detailed flow data. But hopefully others with a similar unit can add their insight.

I have same machine ! S9 adapt SV, it does not record flow limitation. Maybe because its a mute point with it adjusting for any flow limitation anyway! It does display flow, if configured correctly. I can view every breath I took during the night. Dan

The S9 VPAP Auto has flow limitations so I would expect the ASV to have them as well. I am using 3.14 of ResScan. I would look at the data files from the sd card using EDF browser (http://www.teuniz.net/edfbrowser/) and see if the *PLD.edf files have a signal named FFL Index. Or you can email me a *PLD.edf file from your ASV and I will check it for the FFL index signal.

Have you tried to view the data in the latest build of SleepyHead? I know Mark fixed some of the ASV code recently.

That is the machine identified by Resmed as the S9 VPAP Adapt, right? If so, the Resscan 3.13 resscan.xml file includes it in the list of excluded devices under the 'Fuzzyflow', or flow limitation, graph parameters. Don't know what the xml in 3.14 shows.

OK, I just happened to remember. You have to make some edits to the resscan.xml file in order to get Resscan to display it. Search flow limitation and xml. You should be able to find the thread where it's discussed.
