Mask Liners
Mask Liners
Has anyone ever used mask liners, or currently use mask liners? What was/is your experience?
I was recently diagnosed with CPAP and seem to have finally found a mask I like - the Resmad Quattro FX. Although I think using liners may make it a little more comfortable.
Thanks

Re: Mask Liners
got an old cotton t-shirt, old flannel piece (I use old pj pants) or old pillow case around?
make some yourself and try it - take out the cushion for the mask and trace around it on a piece of cardboard - add about 1/2 - 2/3 of an inch all around and cut that out - use that for your pattern for the first one - cut the center out carefully - I usually make a T first and then fold over to make a triangle
see how that first one feels - I put them on lying down - if it is too small, then adjust - if you need to change the size of the T / triangle - adjust - you are making something out of what would soon be a rag
some ppl buy liners - and of course you can but ........ try this first

I use a padacheek mask liner w/my Mirage Quattro. It's more comfortable and together w/anti-leak strap has brought my leaks down to miniscule level and eliminated marks or indentations on my skin. Worth it.

Re: Mask Liners
I DO NOT like a mask liner for my Quattro FX at all. YMMV
I do use one however for my Mirage Quattro, because for me it greatly improves the comfort level and I get better AHI numbers when using the liner.

I use PadaCheek liners.
Silicone has not touched my face in almost 2yrs.
Much better than all the rest.
Easy to use.
Easy to install. Becomes part of the mask.
Durable. Totally washable.
I have used one liner for almost a year.
Made in the USA .... by one of our own .
This is a no brainer.

Re: Mask Liners
My wife had to repair my padacheek liner within the first month. I do like the product though but the wear its showing already I figure I will need a new one every 6 months or so. It was only 15 bucks so still a bargain. Its feels better with less irritation than silicone. Another bonus is cleaning, I do not have to wipe the mask down I just wash the liner every 4-5 days along with my headgear.

Re: Mask Liners
If you hand wash the padacheek liner with mild soap and let it air dry, it will last a very long time. I've had mine for months and it looks like new.
Of course, avoid putting it in the high heat of a clothes dryer.

Re: Mask Liners
The Pad a Cheek liners have literally saved my life because they are the only product that have enabled me to wear my mask every night. I was very close to giving up on my CPAP when I finally discovered them. My skin is extremely sensitive and the silicone on the mask made the bridge of my nose look like hamburger. The sores hurt so much that they kept me awake if I tried to use my mask when they were present. I tried 4 different masks with the same result and couldn't use the Sleep Weaver cloth mask because I have a very small nose and couldn't get it to seal no matter what I tried. I couldn't wear a conventional mask more than 2 nights in a row and then I had to not wear it for 3 days to let it heal. I also tried the nasal pillow mask and it made equally painful sores on the edge of my nostrils.
I tried the Remzzz liners, but they wouldn't stay in place when I tossed and turned. They helped somewhat, but I still got sores when they slipped out of place. The Pad a Cheek liners are soft, custom fit for each type of mask and held in place with velcro-tipped straps. Karen, the owner of Pad a Cheek, is very helpful and it's easy to do business with her. The liners are only $15, so I could afford multiples and can rotate and wash them frequently. The price is reasonable enough that I wouldn't even try to make them on my own (I'm not very crafty!) I've only had them a couple of months, but so far they seem to be very well-made and durable. I can't recommend them enough!

Re: Mask Liners
I used soft light cotton knit and a "sili bandz" (shaped silicone bracelet bands)
to make a no-sew mask panty. Worked pretty good on my zzz-mask.
I want to make more permanent ones with light lingerie elastic and the serger.

Re: Mask Liners
My pad-a-cheek liner is by far the most important part of my setup. It makes everything possible. I am sure I received a bad copy as most people report they hold up great and I was washing by hand and letting air dry. My wife can sew so the repair was not an issue but just looking at the material I figure about six months making it the best investment in supplies easy. Maybe I wash it too often.
I have the quattro FX. My only gripe is keeping the mask from moving around but with the pad-a-cheek when the mask does move around I still keep a seal. I woke up with the bottom part of the mask in my mouth and I still had a seal. If the quattro fx improved its headgear it would be the perfect mask, with the liner. The headgear needs just a little bit more downward pull. I thought I had a stretching issue but now I wash it with the liner and it seems to be fine.
Pad-a-cheek and FX made CPAP possible for me.

Re: Mask Liners
Didn't make any kind of difference for me...I tried both the Remzzz and the pad-a-cheek for the Quattro FX.

Re: Mask Liners
I use the Rezzzz's that my DME provided. Interested in the pad-a-cheek. Anyone tried them with a normal nasal mask rather than the full face masks?
