One year in... How time flies.
One year in... How time flies.
Just had my one year followup sleep study last night... I cruised through and felt like an old pro, thanks in large part to all of the great information I've absorbed by (mostly) lurking on this board. It was a split study, and it's remarkable how miserable the first half without xPAP therapy was. I was sooo glad when the tech came in and told me I could put on my mask. Thanks to all + good luck to everyone struggling. Sticking with it is the best thing I've ever done for myself and my health.

Hi JD. glad to hear things have gone so well for you?
Did your insurance require a follow-up sleep study? My year mark in in December and I have been wondering if I even have to go see my sleep doc. I've been meaning to call my ins and ask them.

It's probably more accurate to say that the insurance company 'tolerated' it, as the machine is now paid for. The sleep lab pushed for it as the 'standard of care', and I was actually curious to see what the numbers will be on the half of the night with no therapy. It certainly felt like the bad old days during the half night without the machine. If this study comes in line with my original one then I would be quite comfortable with tracking my own AHI and leaks for the next 2-3 years and following up then.Lizistired wrote:Hi JD. glad to hear htings have gone so well for you?

Re: One year in... How time flies.
OK, that's good to know. I have no desire to sleep half the night without my machine. The next time we have a power outage I'll send in my oximeter recording! I don't really care to see my sleep doc again since my 30 day was a waste of time.
Hmmm..., I may also ask them if I can send my compliance data directly to them and skip the DME.

"standard of care" LOL!!! More like "standard of profit."jdmoore99 wrote:It's probably more accurate to say that the insurance company 'tolerated' it, as the machine is now paid for. The sleep lab pushed for it as the 'standard of care'
I would have been curious too, and given that opportunity would have gone for it.jdmoore99 wrote:and I was actually curious to see what the numbers will be on the half of the night with no therapy.
