Want to follow up on last week's discussion about the Sleepweaver mask. I tried to photograph my mask to show the improvements I have made to reduce minor leakage. TIt turns out the medical tape is not visibly different enough to detect in the photos. (When I set up an external account, I'll post a photo of the inside of the mask.) Note there are no parts to replace, unless you crush the hose adaptor. So no replacing pillows or anything other than perhaps the flimsy velcro in the headgear.
Lately, the weather has dropped down out of the 100's in Texas and I have turned up the minimal humidity I use from 2 to 4. This appears to have made keeping a seal slightly easier, though I can't imagine why humidity would help seal... when I sweat heavily, it's tough to wear a mask, and it farts. But the small touch of added humidity seems to be beneficial.
Back to the humidity, the one fault (not for me, but for the frau) is that the porous material of the cloth mask doesn't hold humidity as efficiently as does the plastic masks. For her, that's a deficit: she can't maintain a level of humidity comfortable for her. And the mask seems to be slightly more succeptible to the hose pulling on it: tossing and turning seems to require repeated adjusting of leaks caused by our moving about from side to side. Other than those items, I find this a wonderful mask.. right now my only mask.

Re: Sleepweaver mask, parts and humidifier use
Thanks for the info!
I'm wondering if my PapCap chinstrap will help with hose control - it has a nice loop with a velcro strip to have the tubing go up and over your head.
Cheers,
xena
