Second Machine for RV use
Second Machine for RV use
I ahevnt posted here for quite some time. Amazingly my therapy appears to be working. It is almost one year and was a struggle for a few months. I have the s9 and other than hose problems it works well. But I still think Resmed needs to hire an ergomnics specialist. The hoe coming out the back is a pain. The wide footprint does not help. But I do have a question. WE RV in a MH and it does not have a night stand. My s9 sits on the floor and due to that wide fottprint I have to turn it sideways to get enough hose. I was thinking of getting a second APAP to use while travelling and also as a backup. Something that has decent data output , a humidifier, quiet and a smaller footprint. The Devillbis looks interesting and is certainly priced right. Being as I already have one Resmed product I also thought of maybe a used S8 but am not familiar with them. Second wind does have some good used units. What kind of memeory card does an S8 use? Is it quiet? good reputation? Does the Intellipap without the data option give enough info. I know that it just gives you some type of # and you enter that online to get data. Is that accurate? I usually check my leak rate, 95% pressure, events and charts for pressure and leaks. Would I need the data option on the Intellipap to see those items? Is there a source for the software? Any help appreciated.

Re: Second Machine for RV use
I have the same problem with mine in my motorhome. Have no nightstand & if I put it on the floor I would step on it. I have a bank of cupboards above my head, so thats were I put mine. Have never had rain out even with the hose coming straight down for about 2 feet above my head.

Started cpap in 2010.. still at it with great results.
Re: Second Machine for RV use
You would not need the data module with the Intellipap. With the module it allows for more graphs and details, but the Smartcodes provide what most would need. If you bought the data module it comes with the software. You could always start without it then add it later if you felt you needed it. Also the Intellipap will run directly off 12v without a inverter. The humidifier heat runs on 110v only. So if connected to 12v the humidifier becomes passive only.
Re: Second Machine for RV use
One possibility is to remove the built in humidifier and use an external humidifier. You could make some sort of fixture to hold the blower unit and humidifier. Locate the blower unit above the humidifier. This would have some advantage in terms of avoiding spilling water into the blower unit.

Re: Second Machine for RV use
Thanks: I like that the INtellipap does not have a brick. Don't really need the 12 volt cord as our MH has a big inverter but nice to know it would be easy to add that cord.
