Missing Something

Post by new2cpap9 » Thu Sep 01, 2011 1:03 am

I am a new cpap user. After 6 weeks of therapy, my sleep doc asked me to pop out the disk from the back of my ResMed 9 and mail it to her for review. It was somehow lost in the mail. I have been using my machine in the interim, but how do I get a new disk for the back of my machine? Is the disk to store backup records of my usage? Please let me know what I need to do. Thanks

Will one of the ResMed S9 users please confirm the following?

I believe you can just buy a new 2 GB SD memory card and put it in the machine. The machine will format it and use it just fine. You should be able to get one for around $10.

It's getting a little hard to find cards as small as 2 GB. Has anyone tried a 4GB or higher SDHC memory card in their S9 and seen if works?

A 4gig SD card will work fine in a ResMed S9. I tried the one from my camera, it re-formatted the card, saved it's files all without a hitch.

Correct, the ResMed S9 uses a standard SD card. The one that comes with the device is 1GB, but any SD card that size or higher will work just fine. Amazon.com sells them for quite reasonable prices.

The SD card records additional detailed data that the machine itself cannot hold. So the detailed data that you had was probably lost. But the machine itself can hold the usage data so that should not be effected. The machine can hold a few nights of detailed data I believe but most is recorded to the SD card.

I left the SD card in my reader one night last month and have no detailed data for that night.

By the way, every so often, one particular model of SD card won't work in one device and will work in others. A different model of SD card with the same specs may work just fine. It doesn't seem to be a big problem in CPAP machines.

Ain't technology wonderful?

I agree:
If the card is left out overnight, detailed data for that night is lost.
Sometimes the smaller capacity cards can be found at discounters.

Compliance data will be loaded on insertion; and up to a year's worth will be saved.
