Hello all - I am new here, been suffering from this for many years -finally "I" had to ask my doctor to refer me for a sleep study -ive been complaining for years to him about being tired and having headaches, mind you he did find that I have slightly high blood pressure and needed glass's which were contributing factors to my headaches. But the headaches were so easily felt just because of the shear exaustion i suffered from every day, due to the OSA. I first complained to him when i was 25 - I am now 33 - you think this (retard) could have just for a moment considered i have sleep apnea? No he could not consider that - his reasoning for the way I felt the way i did was because I drank and smoked every day. Mind you drinking and smoking is not a healthy practice, but a young man of my age should not feel the way i feel - and after doing some resaerch online, realizing that I have OSA, I realized why I drank so much - it was either burn out and hit the sack around 7 pm or have a few beers and wake up. So you can see how this cycle just repeated it self for years and years.
So finally i have been diagnosed with severe OSA - I got a loaner machine from the place that sells them - an S9 autoset for a week where i use it and they read the data and set the one they sell me accordingly. So i now have an S9 elite with all the bells and wistles which is set at - starts at 8 and works its way up to 16.
The first night i got the loaner (S9 autoset) I felt like a million bucks the next day, I just had this crazy energy from like 3 pm untill 11pm - it was unreal, like so amazing! I thought wow I'm finally back in control of my life.
Unfortunately that was the one and only day I felt soo pumped, the rest of the days were only a slight improvement and yesterday was just terrible one of the worst days of my life. Last night night was the first time I used my own machine (the one I bought, the elite) Soo far soo good for today (its still only morning) My AHI was 6.8 not very far from the norm of 3-5. Ill keep you posted on any improvements. This is only my 7th day now on a CPAP machine.
The guy at the sleep centre was pretty cool , he showed me how to set the machine on my own and basically bypass the lock on it.
Say does any one know where I can get the desktop software so that I may veiw data on my own computer as they do at the sleep centre?
